Huge worm!!! What is it?

Thanks for letting me know. I never put him back in. What’s the most humane way to dispose of him?
Worms don’t feel pain like we do, pick your poison.

Don't think you have anything to worry about that looks reef safe. They all can sting, but few will actually harm your reef. Check out Hermodice Carunculata and see if yours resembles that. This is the only one I've known to eat coral, and I've had many, many fire worms.

Lol I thought I uploaded. Sorry!

I had a coral banded shrimp that would eat those for snacks had to get rid of him because he ate the cleaner for a snack also

+1 on bristle worm. I don’t like them in my tank but harmless. Never handle them with bare hands or you’ll find out where the word Bristle comes from :)

That’s an actual fire worm.
Either a bearded fireworm or orange fire worm.
Eurythoe complanata

Definitely a fire worm. Not Fire Woman but fire worm.

I’d get that out. Very difficult to identify different species as they are morphologically so similar but once they get over 4-5” your likely dealing with Hermodice Carunculata which is a problem that can get well over 10” in length and is a mid level marine predator. Unfortunately they can reproduce rapidly asexually so where there is one big one there is likely a hundred small ones. Hitchhikers like these are why I always start with dry rock.

Eh. They’re not that bad.
I like worms.

Toss the fire worm if you will, keep the fire woman, probaly a red head.
Same amount of danger really.

It looks like you also have bryopsis...I would be more worried about that than the worms.

They aren't "harmless". I touched one accidentally and it took almost a year for my finger to quit blistering. They annoy corals and proliferate to no end. They are great detritus cleaners

That’s why I said it’s a scary worm LOL
