I tried twice but couldn't let myself part away with my radiums, lumenarc reflectors and 8 year old huge bluewave dual m80 ballast !

Haha! They burn in over the tank. Usually takes about a week or so for the radiums to settle in.

Yea the heat can sometimes be an issue. But it's nothing a couple fans can't handle in the summer months

Yea I don't see myself running anything over the tank until they stop making radiums. I've been hoarding ballasts over the last few years as well lol

Just out of curiosity - do you run on electronic ballast with HQI mode or M80 ? I am currently running one radium on m80 and one radium on luxcore 250 in HQI mode and literally could tell the difference. The m80 runs it way whiter and the electronic runs it a little bluer in HQI mode.

Power draw is amazing on the m80 close to 330 watts as opposed to like 275 watts on the electronic in HQI mode.
PAR is way higher on the m80 too measured in apogee.

I had a 250w mh 30" sunpod over the frag tank in an 11.9x14 room, it took more than fans and full house a.c. set at 73- I could still feel the heat emitting from that room from under the door LOL. That tank now has retro t5s for it [emoji12] The mh is now stored in the closet I have to say however I sure miss the way it made everything look!

I run 2 on a galaxy select a watt on hqi and one on a Hamilton m80. There is zero difference in kelvin in the tank. Also par numbers are near identical.

Interesting !!! my watt meter shows clearly difference in power draw and my apogee shows atleast 100-150 diff in PAR numbers

Well am on the same boat . But I think I shall do a iwasaki 6500 or an xm 10K or reeflux 10k on my frag tank. Hardly care about colors and looks on the frag tank.

My thoughts on that would be to match up as close to your DTs lighting as possible. that way the frags are already used to the lighting.

My apex shows a different power draw from the m80 to the galaxy's as well. But visually and by my par meter there isn't any difference, nothing to write home about anyway.

If looking for 14k, I would run ushio . But good luck finding a 250 in SE as they stopped making it . Fantastic PAR and crisp white - a little whiter than radiums run on m80.
If DE, phoenix 14k 250 watt , runs very close or similar to radiums.

I agree with this, but I also have a soft spot for acans lol. They look good under radiums but they are incredible under t5s. This is the only reason I'd consider t5 again lol

SO true! And acans seem to look better and like the t5's (for me anyway) better than the leds too.

I don't run MH anymore and if I re-hung the ole cannons back up in our den (lol) my wife would ;Dead me.
