I will say this though since one of my LEDs became out of service until I get my butt around to removing it and cleaning it out... there is a noticeable loss of light. So even though the LEDs get washed out they're still producing the light.

If I run more than 4 t5's my Kessil shimmer gets washed out.

I think getting washed out isn't a bad thing. On my seahorse tank I have an SB Reef light LED only. It is 29 inches from light to sand bed. I can see a perfect dot on my sand bed for each bulb in that light. Meaning the beams shoot straight through which can burn corals in their path. And I have noticed this happening to one of my blastos. So I've been trying to find a way in that very small odd shaped canopy to add a T5 to stop this from happening.

Not when the metal halides are on there's no stopping that light from being the only thing seen but for an hour from 9-10pm when it is just the xho's that's when I get to see those crazy flourecesnt coral colors. I personally don't like that look I enjoy the metal halide look. But the wife loves to see colors like that And my torch does look amazing.

But when they are both on together the mh just washes out the xho blues. At least to the human eye. I still get the xho par tho

I also run a kinda ghetto sunrise sunset kinda like melvs reef does so for a half hour at night my right mh is on and the rest is lit by the xho I like that look better then all blue as the right mh does spill over to the left side so it isn't all blue.

When I get a proper refugium light I plan on taking the kessil a300w I'm using now and putting that dead center of my halides to get some shimmer

Ballast, freebies. They will run radiums, I do re-call that with the added output. Bulbs cheap E-Bay bulbs, supposed to be 20K, but certainly are not.

Nice, as long as they have a hqi setting you are good to run radiums. I recommend the switch haha.

No the radiums are single end(mogul)

They used to make a 150w de bulbs but discontinued it a while back. If your running de bulbs I recommend the 14k Phoenix. It's closer to a 20k and the numbers it pushes out are close to a radium. If I ran de bulbs it would be these.

How long would they last
Tulio told me that the bulbs I'm using had two bulbs in them and they switch day to day so using his bulbs they will last about a year

I run my radiums 6 hours a day and change them around 12-14 months.

The dual arc bulbs are nice. I thought about running them this time around but the radiums have been too good to me.
