So an update on the fish...

Package has been stuck at Indianapolis all day and FINALLY left at 230pm today. I was hoping I could pick up later today but that's not going to happen. It won't be to PA until late tonight.

I contacted blue zoo and they said they pack the fish with O2 to last 48-72 hours and said they are sure they will be fine. If not we will proceed from there.

this sucks

So took a quick video of the tank tonight. Reefbrite mounts fully up and rocking the halides. I'm def happy with how this looks

At 11pm est they arrived in PA, but far north of me in moon Township. That was the last scan

Update:

Fish arrived this morning at 947am est. I did a quick float to bring temps up because bag water was 65 degrees. I checked salinity and it was close, theirs 1.021 mine 1.024 so I just dumped them in after temp acclimation. So far the Diamond goby seems fine, the Naoko is stressed but I think he will be ok (hopefully) but the 2 flasher wrasses (blue and McCosker) are looking rough and might not make it thru the day.

I contacted blue zoo about the fishes conditions and also noted that I feel that any fish I lose in the alloted time should be shipped out to me free of charge since this is clearly FedEx's fault. I really don't want to pay shipping fees again.

Thanks guys, I hope so too. Blue zoo has already come thru and said they will cover any losses and will ship out as well just as long as fedex doesn't try to claim weather as the reason for a delay, but they didn't have any warning on their site stating such. So that is good news to say the least.

So I found the McCosker dead in QT

The Diamond goby is swimming around like a champ. The Naoko fairy wrasse is hiding mostly but when he comes out he is a strong swimmer and his colors look good. The Blue flasher is still stressed and isn't swimming but is staying upright so I guess that's OK at this point?

Tomorrow is a new day, hopefully they keep improving.

But in other news, I got my daughters first tank up and running! It's a fresh water (I know, one day she might want a saltwater) but I think it looks decent. I tore down my frag system because frankly I don't have many frags anymore so it was a waste IMO. I'll build a new frag setup when the time comes.

My daughter really wanted an Elephant nose fish so she got one. He is surprisingly active as I heard they are nocturnal and usually shy. She also got 10 neon tetras, electric blue gouramis, dwarf flame gouramis and 2 plecos. Also added a couple live plants to go along with her colorful fake plants and her disney princess ornaments lol.

She's excited for it to be done....for now lol

So today I found my Naoko Fairy wrasse dead in QT

Not sure what happened, he was swimming around and eating like crazy. Then I find him dead this morning. I'm bummed but thankfully BZA will take care of it.

Also dealing with a diatom bloom in the display, my carbon needs changed and I ran out. Placed an order with BRS and thought it would be here today but they dropped it off at my local post office which is literally 6 houses up from me this afternoon. Of course it was after they closed I checked the tracking to see what was up

It's been a big fail for me the last week or so when it comes to deliveries.

So I just finished reading your whole thread and am now too tired to write hahahaha!!! Love your setup and the sump is a beauty! I loved the red dragon you had too among others and am sorry you had so many loses. Alex told me about his BM doser indecent and now I saw you had one also, geeze I am glad I didn't go with that one! I have a Jebao DP4 and haf not had a problem with in in 2.5 years now... hoping not to also. .. It's a scary thought. BTW I LOVE your blastos!

I too have a jebao dosing pump I keep as a backup, but since switching to a CaRX I won't be going back lol

My shipment of drygoods/fish food came in today.

Water changes and fresh carbon are in for tonight's fun after work lol.

I made a switch in foods too. I love LRS foods but the closest LFS that stocks it to me is an hour away. I just don't feel like driving that far for it. Shipping it was also pricy, but foster and smith have the rods food fish blend for $12 a slab with $20 flat rate shipping. So I got 4 slabs of rods for the price of 2 LRS shipped. The fish blend is the same as their reef blend minus the micro foods for corals. Between my 4 tangs and their poop I think my corals are pretty well fed lol.

Update time!

I'll do this one in 2 separate posts, it's been a while I know lol.

First about 3 weeks ago my tank had a big diatom bloom. Not only was it all over the sand and rocks but a few of my sps pieces really took a hit. My acans, elegance, chalices and blastos also took a big hit from whatever caused the diatom bloom. At first I checked all my pumps and anything else with magnets to see if any have split, not that. I then test for phosphates and other things, nothing. Then I thought my bulbs, but they are only 6 months old at this point. So then I walked into my bathroom and glanced at my Vertex RODI unit and ew, my pre-filter was insanely dirty.
So I swap the filters out with fresh ones but noticed my tds wouldn't drop below .02. So then I ordered fresh DI and replaced the 100gpd membrane. And boy was I glad I did that, the membrane was really gross when I removed the old one. I'm thinking my issue was a high level of silicates in the rodi water from bad filters, ugh I hate when I get lazy with stuff. It's such a stupid thing to let slip and have my corals suffer because of that.
I have done multiple water changes and I am starting to see PE again in my sps, my lps are recovering as well except my one blasto it's still shriveled up

Also an update on the fish from my recent order, I lost all but one the diamond goby. Blue zoo has come thru with a credit with free shipping so tonight I ordered the fish. The list includes:

Male McCosker flasher wrasse
Male Blue flasher wrasse
Naoko fairy wrasse
Multi colored fairy wrasse
6 line wrasse

They will be here on tuesday (hopefully)
