I've been using mine for about 4 months, works great. I think the only issue with them is that it can get a buildup on the sensor over time and cause problems. I just check mine whenever I'm doing tank maintenance. I haven't had to clean it yet.

Means i gues we can brush it every mnth that wud solve the salt creep issue

Pathetic, gave it back. Hydor should really do something about it. A simple float switch one works best. Making a diy again.

How do you like that are they different gph or the same thinking about buying the smart wave and a 3 gen 2k
Got no issue with different flow rates as long as they're both acceptable. BTW, my ATO is still working great.

Had nothing but problems with mine.
Mounted in the final chamber of the sump, over a week or so, micro air bubbles build up in the inner lens, causing it to activate the ato pump.

I've had my hydor smart level running for over a year. Only gripe is it doesn't come with a pump. Other than that, works great. Haven't needed to clean mine yet either.

There isn't a micro lens on the hydor smart level. It is a temprature sensor.

Im not sure why you had salt creep on your hydor smart level. I haven't had the need to clean mine for over a year now. However its not in the path of micro bubbles or water splashing, either.

Edit: sorry i miss read that.

Float switches can get stuck, even from salt creep. Snails can cause float switches to malfunction, as well.

I have had my smartlevel for a couple of years now and it works great. I thought it was a pretty good buy for the money. I use an aqua lifter pump with it.

Its wierd to depend up on temp for ato. Fortunately got a credit for it and bought eheim pumps.

Used it a lot back when I had my frag tank set up and it worked like a champ
