Been patiently waiting for this to come out. Has anyone heard anything about its release date? May have to just pull the trigger on another controller.

Last I heard was March :worried-face:
Stinks because I like their controllers. I have the Wave Engine and want to add to that but vacations are coming sooner than later and I need to get a controller setup. May be forced to buy something else even tho I don't want too.

Funny you’re asking this and the ad that popped up for me was for the apex.

I stated with apex and then tried the hydros on this last build. The build quality of the “brain” and energy bar seems better but I didn’t find it to be any more intuitive than the apex and some stuff (like a salinity probe) was missing. I ended up going back to my apex.

Good to know. I was really only waiting for the X10 for the salinity probe and like the fact it has built in dosers.

I went to hydros from apex. Will never go back. I started with them because they were the most popular. It wasn't intuitive at all and built quality was subpar.

They do not release actual dates until it is really close. The Hydros system is expandable by adding new controllers to a collective you create. Big chances are you will get others to go with that one anyway. Any of the controllers can be members of a collective. Once they are in a collective they share input and output ports with each other so a input on one can be used to control an output on another. It is seamless in collective acts as the controller. All that is needed for a collective is enough buss cables to hook the controllers together and a couple of terminators. I currently have 10 controllers in a collective. I tend to run low on the sense ports quicker than the others.

Get one of the other Hydros controllers. You can add them together in a collective and they will act like the are one large controller. Then you can add the X10 when it comes out. If you are like me you will end up needing more inputs and outputs any way and another controller is how you add to the collective. The X10 does not have 0-10v inputs or outputs. It also has one probe port so if you are going to use more than on pH probe or an ORP probe you will need another controller that has those ports anyway. I would make sure you gat the controller hooked up a few week before going out of town anyway.

Anyone have any updates on this or the kraken? Since these things are probably $800 each, a little heads up about if it will be released this summer or next year would be useful to know if I should wait or not. Would hate to buy another dosing system and then see this come out a month or 2 later.

The last I heard was later this summer. CoralVue does not give a specific release date any longer. Those dates are guesstimates and they got a lot of flack on one when it was delayed several weeks from the estimated date. They do have working versions on both out there so I would guess we are talking months away and not next year.

They are already way past the estimated release time period. I have been waiting since last year to buy a controller specifically because I want the X10 and Kraken. But I am really getting tired of waiting and Hydros just may be out of luck. They are just waiting too long, they have been teasing these too long.

@CoralVue I agree. Time to look for something else.

They have never released a estimated date for these. They have not released a estimated date for a release in two years so I cannot see how it is past that date. The X10 and Kraken will work with any of their other controllers when they come out, The Kraken is outputs only so you will need another controller with it anyway if you want to control any of the outputs with an input of some kind. The X10 has 4 sense ports, pH port and conductivity port as inputs. It has 2 drive ports and 4 precision dosing pumps as outputs. Any other inputs or outputs that you will need will need to be from other controllers. So you can get those now and add the Kraken and X10. I have seen both of the these working so they do exist.

I'd hang tight and look at some of their other stuff to get you by. I love my Hydros stuff and have noticed not many people having issues. Compare issues in the forums and I'm sure you would hold on but at the end of the day, your choice

Yeah definitely. I have 2 hydros x4 on 2 systems and love them. That's why I I'm trying to wait for the x10. Either way though hydros is the controller to get imo. I'd get the x4 xp8 pack while you wait. It's very straightforward. You will find use for the extra ports over time for sure so no waste in getting the x4 and then the x10... I just wanna know what quarter at least they're aiming for

I think there is no problem in giving a desired release date and then if it backs up a few months just say they found issues they didn't want to release and ruin reef tanks. Transparency gains trust and patience

The date they did give was sometime in 2023 and that was stated last year. The XD was also stated as sometime in 2023 and it has been out a while, but they did say that one would be out first. Is there something in particular that you have in mind for them?

There was a YouTube video filmed at an aquarium convention in FL a few weeks ago. The CoralVue rep stated that they were hoping to release both the Kraken and X10 in August 2023. I assume this date could slip since CoralVue is working through supply chain issues, but this is the latest estimate I saw from a credible source (ie, video interview with a company representative).

Tell that to the people at Neptune who had to endure a crap storm from customers when the Trident release was delayed.
