Hypo or Copper?

The Naso did not make it through the night.

This has been the most heart breaking and frustrating months I have ever had keeping fish. I have been keeping fish for a long time and this is just bad. I lost thee tangs I planned to add to the display all together. Now only the blue is left. When I did hypo i did that this many issues. All the fish did well. Even if I did have antibiotics, it progressed from heavy breathing to dier in 24hours. He may not have had flukes, just a gill infection. My first FWD I did see yellow mucus type stuff for sure come from his mouth gill area directly. In the future I suppose I'll only add and QT one at a time.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Infections like these are the hardest to treat and cure. Ones like this just move too darn fast.

Well since we have so many fish and such we found a web site that sells medications in bulk. They are not name brand but contains the same active ingredients. I also have a second 40 gallon I can use to QT another fish separately

Is a water change necessary after dosing Prazipro?

My Blue Tang and aiptasia eating file fish seem to not be eating as well. Prazipro dose suppress appetite right?

Yes a minimum of 24 hours after dosing and a max of 7 days which would be right before the second dose. You'll want to be sure you to siphon off the bottom of the tank and catch any dead flukes during the water change so they don't start spoiling the water quality.

@bif24701 Sorry for your loss, but that infection looked bad. Infections caused by gram negative bacteria can kill faster than Marine Velvet Disease. :(

I did a water change and added carbon today. Today has been 30 days of consistent copper levels tested to .5 ppm. The remaining fish seem good. The CBB hasn't gotten worse I will monitor and hope the lesions dissipate after copper is fully removed.

After closely observing my Blue Tang looks like she had many small spots on her, not ich I don't think as these are darker.

Possiably. I did over shoot the 7 day window for my second Parazipro, but I just added it the other day.

So Black ich and Flukes are the same? So that explains the other fish dieing and the Naso Tang. Should I do a second dose today? Or wait 7 days?

I added as directed, 5ml/20 gallons. Is that correct?

Not exactly the same; but both are worms. Turbellarians (black ich) are sometimes more resistant to prazi IME. But I would go ahead and dose Prazi again; the black dots should clear within 24 hrs.

Yes

Yes

Same amount? It's a 40 cube with a 406 Fluval canister so I add 11ml?

I just remembered I added carbon after the water change......

I'll remove the carbon and add the Parazipro again, stupid me lol.

That sounds about right. If prazi fails to clear them, then treating with formalin usually works.

Tang looks improved, will monitor closely today. How many treatments of Parazipro is safe to do in a row? I won't be able to do another water change until Jan 4 when my salt gets here. I do have about another ~10-15 gallons ready to go now.

I'll go the formalin route if I still see signs of them. When will I know they are gone? Will all signs of them be gone after a few days?

When using prazi to treat turbellarians: Dose once, wait 7 days, do a 25% WC and then dose again. If worms reappear after that use formalin instead.

When using formalin to treat turbellarians: Administer a 45 min bath and then transfer the fish into a sterile QT. Wait 7 days, and then rinse & repeat.

You always want to transfer the fish into a new/sterile QT after each formalin bath to prevent reinfection. I advise against prolonged exposure to formalin by treating in-tank.
