I absolutely LOATHE my Radion lights!!!!

I love my Pac Sun hybrid, pain in the a** to set the software up but once sorted very easy to adjust with a bluetooth connection from pc. ;)

Ok I'm gonna vent a little. First off, these things do function as lights and my coral seem to do fine under them. That's not the problem. The issue is adjusting them. What a nightmare. Everytime I try to change something I end up quitting and throwing up my hands in despair.

They couldn't make it where are a simple lap top program would be used to adjust them. No no no. Way to simple. We have to get the internet involved. So I buy the 'Reeflink' thinking this will resolve my issue. Nope. For some completely idiotic reason their engineers decided that this thing also must connect to the internet before use. I don't have Wifi at my house and this is an unbelievable nuisance.

So..... I truck all this garbage over to my shop. Guess what... reeflink still won't connect.....again. I think it works about one out of every hundred times. I wouldn't recommend this pile of garbage to my worst enemy.

I, like I'm sure most people who would purchase this junk, just wanna make my lights work. That's all. And I see no reason why Radion seems to think they must know my every move through forced internet connectivity. There is a reason comments are disabled on their useless YouTube videos.

I will NEVER buy anything from this company ever again. No way on earth.

Roger,

I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you've had with your EcoTech equipment and I would be happy to help. Like several have mentioned previously, you will want to connect your ReefLink directly to your router via Ethernet after configuring it. That said, have you contacted our Customer Service department? If not, please give us a call. We will happily assist you in setting up your ReefLink and programming your devices to your satisfaction. We can be reached by calling 1-800-785-0338 Ext. 2

Why so much hate against the best company probed out there. Quality, service and performance. Best pumps, best lights and state of art customer service. Its just ONE call and they will guide u step by step until everything works perfect.
People spend thousands in equipment for their high tech tanks looking for the best and then complaining for the need of wifi??? Really so just use ur smart phone using ur hot spot!!! Everyone has smart phones today, so stop please blaming on Ecotech that the only thing they are doing is create excellent products for our tanks, spend the time to know ur stuff and if u cant don't get frustrated ASK FOR HELP!!! And finally if u are trashing ur radions let me know and I can recycled them because when u need to sell any ecotech product they are the ones that keeps the highest price when used.
Its not personal its just patience as a Virtud.

Tried to set mine up with apex bought the wxm module for 80$ or whatever it costs couldn't get the radions to link up to them spent hrs trying to figure it out in the end not sure if it was Apex or radions I was using a Mac so I just got frustrated and quit
Even using radions program lights is so finicky and annoying
It needs to be much simpler and smoother also why do my lights keep going off there set program after a while ??? I just reset them tonight guess what all 3 configured but my middle light still on after time should be off the other 2 went off and I really just don't have hrs to spend on line or trying to get through the to Eco Tec over the phone .....
High end LEDs r for ppl who are very good with computers ime I'm not one lol

I have owned 3 of these lights now. Not because I wanted 3. I needed two and they had to replace one due to problems with the light. The two lights I have remaining continue to show the exact same problem. 2 G3 and 2 G4s that all stop running the cycle and get stuck either off or at another point during the cycle. ECOTECH has no idea what is going on. This started in October/November. Plus when they do stop working they don't connect with the online interface when I try and go to fix the problem. I have to factory reset these lights every 2 weeks or so. I've been on the phone with Mr. Young in management and they still don't know what is going on. They make quite an effort to look helpful when the comment on forums and review but it's just a show. They need to recall this light and fix the issues.

I've owned two of these lights, the Pro G2 which Ecotech changed the frequency to work with the WXM module/Apex and then it connected flawlessly. Presently the pro G4 which has worked flawlessly out of the box. I've used both the WXM and now the Reeflink, both worked fine. If there's an internet issue within your home you may have a problem. Ecotech has been extremely helpful with any situations arising from their products. I have the Radion, Mp40Qds, and the battery backup, couldn't be more satisfied with their products and quick response to any situation. Everyone has their own opinions of course. Ecotech reps I appreciate your help.

Some have had minor issues with the Kessil AP700 and I only know 2 with any major issues. Would any of you consider these major issues that make you question the purchase?

I had a bad experience with my AP700's, so much so that I bought an ATI powermodule and couldn't be happier. I'm glad yours work well for you, mine were nothing but a headache for me. The control system for the ATI setup is superior to every other user interface I have seen for aquarium lighting. (In fairness I haven't seen the giesmann interface). If you want the LED's to emulate any of ATI's T5 bulbs you just click on what bulb you want them to emulate. Or you can customize them completely. Very slick elegant system.

You are in fact one of the ones that came to mind. That is a great light still. To bad the Kessil didn't work out for you.

I ran an AP700 for about 9 months before selling it for 2 Radion G4 Pros.

The Reeflink software is superior to the AP700. It has some issues in some browsers but its 100% better.
When I decided to chuck my AP700, it still didn't have an Android app. And a couple times while editing my light schedule and didn't finish, it stayed in edit mode in manual while the Reeflink goes back to it's regular programming after about 15 minutes if I don't save while I'm editing,

Those and a couple of other minor things let me decided against another AP700 when I needed a 2nd unit for full coverage. I didn't trust Kessils s0ftware to sync both lights. The lights were out for a year and were still in beta.

Other than that I loved my Kessils. The shimmer is the best for LEDs and you only have to select the colors you want to see and Kessil logic makes sure the corals are getting the spectrum they need. Kinda foolproof and one less thing I have to worry about.

I think some of these issues have been fixed already but at the time I needed to make the best decision for me.

I still went and got a Kessil A80 for my 10 gallon nano that syncs to the spectral controller.

I don't understand the issue experienced or why wifi is needed. I've got a Reeflink plugged into my router far from the equipment and I don't have issues. Programming is rather easy, although I think half the problem people have with LED is constantly adjusting them - just download a preset and leave it alone, other than a gradual increase of intensity, which can be done automatically anyway.

My 1st reeflink did not work, ecotech tried over and over to fix it online and they could not...tried everything at home of ports/routers/re-download ..fonally they sent a replacement and it has worked perfectly.....I can program lights super easy.....

as for wifi....I did have to upgrade to cable modem instead of dsl router ..
once that was done it has worked to very well...

have ecotech check your reeflink..

....

My reeflink is plugged into power outlet away from pc and cordless phones....as per ecotech.

@roger saltwaters - You've made it clear you don't have wifi at home. Do you use an aquarium controller? One of the downsides of all of the major LED suppliers is that it requires a router to connect (not necessarily wifi, though I believe the Radions do). The AI's will connect locally, via a router. They would not require an ISP connection.

A controller is another way to control the lighting parameters easy as pie without wifi.

Would love to understand your setup a bit better!
