I am a Beginner would like some coral ideas

Don't buy a Kenya tree haha im not on my desktop or laptop so idk where abouts you live but im sure you can find someone to give you a Kenya or star polyps if i lived near you in NY id say stop over and ill give you a 7 inch tall Kenya iv grown for over a year haha

Toadstool is nice
Green polyp leather is nice
Frog or a hammer iv found to be easy
Zoas are good aswell but they like dirty water haha

I have a 10 gallon too and all i have is a HOB fillter running DeNitrate, a powerhead, a heater, and ZooMed's AquaSun LED fixture. Everything's stable with 1 gallon weekly water changes. No need to spend upwards of $1000.

Be advised, though. It works with softies but not most LPS or SPS (stony) corals. Your palys will do fine under these lights, but not the blastomussa.

the tank i like is the NUVO Fusion Nano it has a filtration system built in and I knew that biological water quality could flop quickly which is why i liked that one because the built in filtration system had extra space for biological filtration without diminishing looks

Does it come with a light? If it does, you don't need to buy a light immediately, most stock lights can grow softies and you can upgrade later.

The lighting would be the aquaillumination prime hd which I can control the settings but I really want to make this tank beginner safe to avoid issues

It comes with a light but a few reviews said that the lighting didn't grow corals that well and you could see the spots on the bottom of the substrate

The stock light should work with softies but it probably won't with stony corals. There's nothing "beginner dangerous" about it, just that it won't grow more advanced corals. "Growing corals" is a vague term because it doesn't describe what type of coral, how high the coral is placed, etc.

But all in all an all-in-one tank like the NUVO Fusion is a good choice for beginners.

So skip the big money lighting and stick with the one with the light I was going to buy the one without the light and buy my own lighting

Also would a rodi with an output of 75 gallons per day be too much i intend on using it for the fresh and saltwater aquarium

And back on lighting so would it be acceptable for blastomusa (sorry for incorrect spelling)

Buy your own light if you want to make the investment, it will be better in the long run as long as that's the one you want and you're willing to put up the money. Yes, 75 gpd is good, it just means that the unit makes a maximum of 75 gallons of RODI water per day.

No problem! Honestly I wouldn't get a controller for a ten gallon, just test your water periodically, add fresh water occasionally to replace evaporation, and do weekly water changes.

Hello i a am a fresh water aquarist but I'm looking to go towards saltwater as well.I would like to do a Nano reef and have two Wyoming whites but I only have my heart set on one coral which is the cornbred god of war paly.I also think I would like some blastomusa (sorry for improper spelling I couldn't get the voice thing to work),but I would also like a peaceful,hardy coral that has losts of movement without it being a invasive species such as Xenia (again sorry for any spelling error)

So to sum up what I just said is I am wanting to try saltwater and have a few different corals I like but I would like some recommendations

Also on a separate note would two Wyoming white designer clowns be ok in a ten gallon tank with frequent 15 present pwc's with rodi water

I've spent around $1200 dedicated on my 10 gallon (from food, hardware, lights, supplements, test kits, refugium, livestock, paint, plumbing, so on). I've spent more as a whole but that's because I'm building a 58 gallon.

20g tank from petco as it is the $1 a gallon sale now then use this for an overflow...

get another 20g to use as a sump.

an aquamaxx in sump skimmer will do you wonders... two little fishies sells a reactor for $40 on amazon... a decent heater is $30-40

get a nice pump for $60

one jabeo power head will go a long way in ur tank theyre about $60 on amazon with controller...

go with 40lbs of base rock from amazon as its from a dead reef most of the time. youll just need to wash it off real good

substrate dont go with sand use something else

you can build a DIY net lid for about $15-20

the rest is pretty much the light... personally you dont need to go crazy and buy a kessil to grow a leather or lps frags haha

I would take some time considering the unintended consequences of putting palys in a 10 gallon. They could easily take over your tank. Manual removal could work, but then you risk the introduction of a large amount of palytoxin in your water column (its a very small water column). Blastos are good, I have one in my 10. Acans, and favia are cool as well.

yeah this is why I mentioned the 20g display and 20g sump... its a lil bulky and youll need a stand but that extra water volume will do wonders when dealing with corals and remove things like heaters and skimmers from your display.

the amount of equipment that is bought when first getting into this hobby that youll soon realize is junk is over whelming haha
