I think it will slowly bounce back. My RBTA recently did the same and was in a much worst state than yours - 1/3 of the nem got torn up, including part of the mouth and foot. It has been two weeks and my RBTA is fully healed, just missing 1/3 of it's body though.

plus 1 to the suggestion above. I would add to go get a big Tupperware dish.... and some rubble and place it.

I had to root out a couple of big nems out of some rock in my tank and they took to the rubble right away. The Tupperware will give them a place where they can get away from the flow. I would also look to get some light onto them similar to what you had or it had before the entanglement. The picture is of my nems a day after rooting them out. My tank has a ton of flow.

I have a small piece (maybe a little bigger than the nem) that I can take out but everything else is huge and stacked. Will do that now. I’ll place the rock in a way that shields it from the flow.

As far as lighting, I have my old hydras that I’m trying to figure out how to get over the hood. I’m worried laying them on top will get too hot so I’m trying to rig something up. I kinda thought the nem would hate all that light given it’s state?

Btw, its foot (what’s left of it) appears sticky which is a good sign!

Rock placed and hydra 26 set up. Running low intensity and only lighting half the tank so the anemone can get under or over the rock to decide its light amount.

I'm sorry your going through this but I commend you for taking the steps you have to save your nem! Your definitely not stupid and your not the first person that has done this. Now you know what to do in the future and you learned something that you can share with someone new down the road.

Thank you everyone. Just did a 30% WC to keep it clean in there. I really hope it pulls through too. The ATO pump just died so had to order another... goood thing the osmolator pumps are cheap!

I spent a little more than I care to admit to get this whole thing going. Way more than the cost of the anemone — but that doesn’t matter; it’s my responsibility.

However I’ve solidified my plans of turning this into a nem tank for my lightning maroon clown and his future mate (eventually) and have started cycling rock in my big tank and am working up a spot in the house for it. One day I’d like to try to raise their offspring. Healing this guy is the first priority though.

Anyways back to the subject. The nem immediately reacted to the change in light by shrinking and then slowly coming back out. Definitely glad to see it react to stimulus. It’s moving away from the rock and towards the light at a very slow rate so I’m just going to keep letting it be and not interfere with it.

Ecotech makes mesh nem guards for the MPs. You could put one on any powerhead though.

@jabberwock Thanks You can shield them with anything; when I added my first nem I tied a filter media bag over the powerhead. They dirty quickly though and it's very annoying. This nem got caught up simply because I forgot about the powerhead I had sitting behind the rock work

Wow, things keep getting worse. I think I’ve stumbled upon a pest explosion in my tank.

And my green BTA in my display is seriously declining. To the point where I want it isolated with the other nem. Could the pests be bothering it?? They’re located all over the rock near it.
