I blacked out and bought too many corals

I’ve certainly gotten “frag-drunk” many times! You’ll be fine, take 3 teaspoons of Kalk and we’ll look to hear from you next week.

As others have said, alk won't be a problem.

Speaking from experience, getting them all in the proper place for flow and light acclimation and then keeping track of which ones are which may be the actual challenge. I always take pictures of the frag when I receive it, and make a note of what it is and where I put it. And then they are all going to start to move as the ones that need more light or flow move up in the tank.

With that many frags, depending on what they are, they might all look the same for a while, especially if they are small acro frags. Three weeks later, you'll be looking at five little sticks that are all sort of the same shape and color, and be trying to remember which one was the $5 frag and which one was $60.

Just did the same with the TSA live sale. Once everything settled and I saw them start to encrust in my frag rack I had to up my CaRx to deal with my Alk going down. But things seem to be okay now. I might move them from the rack this week as some are stating to grow into the rack. As far as remembering what is what - I took a pic of the bag and the individual frag to help my memory out - lol.

I don't think I've ever heard the phrase "too many corals" on here before.
I know I haven’t heard that before! I remember my last eBay purchase was 55 corals!!! I blame it on that and the gf saying I won’t win any!!! Lol challenge accepted!!

So between all the recent live shows and ebay, i think i have something like 35 frags coming to my 125 gallon mixed reef tomorrow.

This is a very busy week for work for me and im worried i wont be able to weather the alkalinity storm that could be headed my way.

I have no idea why i thought it was a good idea to have them all delivered on the same day.

Any suggestions would be welcome.
Run a bunch of carbon to clean out extra toxins

Yes. That phrase is for inside our heads only.

Usually out loud we just say “what do you mean to many? They’ll all fit!”

I glue my frags to frags, back wall, upside down. Don’t matter. Single frag rack, I think not!

On a serious note. Take your time acclimating. If it’s going to get over whelming with the time allotted, reach out to a friend of lfs and see if you can temp house some until you get time to set them up how you want them.

I too sometimes over buy, I mean, get sent lots of extra frags for free, if anyone asks. Usually takes close to a week before I start seeing my alk get to a range where I need to intervene.

Couple water changes might soften the process too.
I've used the phrase got free frags with my wife, for know it's working, lol

I was thinking 35 is a bit light?

I had to explain to my 5 year old the other day that corals are like footy cards (Aus equivalent of baseball cards) they release new ones every week and you have to collect the whole set.

haha.. that is great.. you'll be fine.. I agree with the above.. I would caution on running carbon right away. The most important thing is no drastic changes.. adding carbon could strip some elements out of the water to quick.. just by 2 cents. The hard part for you will be keeping track of what frag is what. take a bunch of pics as you lay them out . open the bags and place in the tank.. I qt my frags and from experience have it down to a graph and QT on rack with 30 slots... Let them heal up a bit and move to the DT.. Ask the seller what his parameters are and make sure yours is not to off from it..no need to be exact .. but if your a high alk.. 9 or 10 and seller is 7 or 8 ... i might adjust a little. high alk from old days.. most are keeping at 8... I would plan on this taking up most of your day.... I have been there myself...Lets see some pics...

Hey good morning, I don't see anything wrong about it, just share a few frags here with some of the hobbies and I'm sure you'll be fine

I always try to look a little surprised when opening one of the larger boxes and say "WOW, I must have won one of the frag packs!" Noticed an eye roll last time tho, I think she's on to me.

OP: @Travis Alderman
Good reason to buy a Trident, KH Guardian, or similar...... consumption goes up you'd know pretty quick!

God I just did the same thing... 18 zoa and mushroom frags that arrived yesterday. But hey, it was $300 shipped and the smallest colony still has 10 polyps (largest must have 70 or 80) so I'm happy still.

I remember those days........thanks for reminding me;Sour

The question is, how much did you spend on 35 frags?
Toooooo much!

And when it's done over a period of time it doesnt quite register until it's shipping time.

Thanks! I keep my alk at 7.5dkh cause I carbon dose. I have 2 schools of anthias so I need to feed quite a bit.

You've received some solid tips in here already. 35 frags is gonna be exciting!! Definitely post pics!!
Here are some pics of the frags. Hope i can keep them as colorful as they are today!

Just want to see positive growth too.

I did the same thing in a 180g. I just do weekly water changes with Red Sea pro salt which has higher alkalinity
