One would think an inspection of returned item would be done
If it was marked as defective/damaged logistically the warehouse shouldn't be putting it back in the sellers inventory as sellable. 100% agree its not the sellers fault if it handled by the warehouse. Most people don't get bent out of shape about this though probably because I cant think of another company that can get products to your door next day without paying a huge shipping fee and also allows you to return items for basically any reason.

I think the easy return might play a role in this sort of thing actually happening in the first place.
Agreed, that’s the way it should work. Unfortunately once our inventory is in their fulfillment centers it’s like a giant abyss, you never know quite what is happening:
I have to keep reminding myself to check this section where it lists the condition because I keep forgetting it can be used. I would never trust anything used going into my tank unless I new who I was buying it from. For other stuff I don't mind buying used but I always base it on whether I want to/have time to go through the hassle of returning it if it's defective. Most of the time I need stuff right away so I just buy new. It's too bad yours was in such bad shape. If it's being sold through Amazon fulfillment you'd think they would have an inspection process. I mean it's one thing that the pump needs cleaning it's a totally different story that a prong is missing on the plug and if it came that way from the seller then that seller needs to be cancelled.
I agree. I thought I was buying new. So many things to check now when buying... I need to stop buying from my phone.

You're right about so many things to check when buying online, especially. Even checking if it's fulfilled by Amazon. If it is then returns are fairly easy. If it isn't then you're at the mercy of the seller.
