He is cute till he lays on your fans for a long time and over heats you fixture.

Exactly why I need to rush my dad to help me build a canopy. Thankfully this fixture has two fans on opposite sides so he can't block both

They say you can teach them to stay off the counter by putting aluminum foil down. May be worth a try till the canopy is in place. They don't like the texture. Motion sensor air cans could work too but I'd worry about startling him on top the fixture..

Glad my canopy is tall or all three my felines would be on top of the "Flippers very expressive cat tree aquatic apparatus"! Lol

Zip tie a plastic strawberry crate over your fans for temporary cat proofing.

Had 2 cats that loved a 55g freshwater tank. Don't fight the cat. You won't win. Build a cat friendly hood.

I need to at least find a way to protect the fans.. the strawberry crate is a good idea.

I doubt i'll be able to stop him either, he's that sort of cat. I just want to get something to help protect the tank from him- which would be the canopy

Not the friendliest idea, but my parents got fed up with their cats on their freshwater tanks, so they put those mats for chairs with wheels on carpet upside down on top of the tank. Cats jumped on the spikey things once and they never did it again. Didn't really hurt the cats, just startled them. Sort of the same reaction as when they met our hedgehog the first time.

Your catfish jumped out of the tank..[emoji23]

Just put pieces of duct tape up there sticky side up,,,no more kitty on the tank..

I wouldn't do that, removing duct tape from the cat will not be fun to say the least
