I forgot to salinity acclimate nassarius snails

Perhaps I missed it somewhere, but how long ago did you get the snails? I misread something in your first post and thought you had said yesterday.

For what it's worth, I have hermits in both my reefs and have never had an issue with them hurting any of my SPS, LPS, or leather corals. They do occasionally climb on them though so I could see how they could break off branches. That's just my experience though. Nassarius snails should eat the remains of other dead nassarus snails. They can only eat so much though, so if 4/5 died, the fifth won't be able to eat up all 4.

Make sure you are matching salinity and temperature during your water changes, those can account for many unexplained deaths.

thanks for the help! I did water change and every snail that came up in the vacuum is still alive! 3 are still unaccounted for but if they are dead glad to know the other snails will take care of them. Dodged a bullet

Glad to hear it friend.

My hermits only gathered on my monti breaking off branches but that was enough for me to ban them altogether. One day I removed 3, the next day they were back with some of their cousins I think there was like 7 of them. I got tired of removing them over and over again so when I did remove most went back to LFS and some went into fuge never to be seen again. Just snails for me from now on.

That's reasonable, snails do a great job cleaning up too. A prime example of different strokes for different folks.

Happy reefing friend
