Isn't that the point of being a hobbyist seeing them grow and putting in the time and work to keep them thriving? I know people with big money that just buy huge colonies and pay for Someone to maintenance their tank and I don't really consider them hobbyist. Is it wrong to buy colonies? No way! Especially when you can buy or find a great deal. But I don't see nothing wrong with having frags and it makes things more exciting in this hobby.I guess I'm not a real hobbiest Brandon Chi LOL! It's a wonder I've stayed interested for thirty years.

Not sure if my original post is understood. I don't like frags because I don't like the way they look while they are frags, I often lose them and I sometimes run out of patience with slow growers. I prefer to buy something that looks good right away buf of course I love keeping it up and watching it get even nicer.....
Of course. I don't like to spend a lot at all.....I actually just purchased my most expensive coral, $200. I just generally keep away from things like "bounce" "super rare" "blinding" "1 of a kind".... You get my drift lol
Yea sometimes those prices can be all marketing and hype. I have gotten bingo a discussion on how I hate that adding your name to a coral from the ocean and trying to sell it for 10x more because you put you name on it is silly but that what they do and people buy into it. For me i love the look of the bounce mushroom but I don't have one yet but people should but what they like and not because it's branded or its popular that month.
What Zoas are those in your profile pic?Title speaks for itself. I can't stand frags for a number if reasons....
I never have a good place to put them, I think frag racks kind of ruin the look and if even if I find a good spot in my rockwork, they look dumb for a while.
Some are worse then others....SPS not so bad as they grow fast but closed brains usually take forever to grow enough to enjoy.
Fortunately I am not into the really rare corals and most of the corals I like can be bought in colonies for only a little more then frags.
Just thought I would put that out there lol
Clearly I was J/K "just kidding". Love your tank!Diesel doesn't LIE. I can set you up with many sponsors/vendors from R2R and they will tell you that I do only buy frags.
It looks like a dragon soul favia not a zoa colony. What Zoas are those in your profile pic?

Yes. Every time it doubled in size, I'd frag it and glue it in a different orientation.thats 8 months started from a 1in frag?
Thanks, remember, frag and frag often, glue the frags upside down, sideways, pointing downwards. It will grow and usually faster. As they encrust, it's almost like a party and they just grow like nuts.niceeeeee
