Yeah if it's not terribly bad and not spreading, I would imagine it would make for a tasty meal for any CUC members, especially hermits, emerald crabs or snails. I have a fighting conch that loves stuff on top of or just below the sand.

Oh it totally sucks man!! I hate it so bad!! I shook things up BIG TIME today. Tore apart my entire tank and brushed all the live rock very thoroughly, then threw them in buckets of freshwater so they don't completely die, captured my wrasse and put him in QT (poor guy has had a terribly stressful day) because the shake up dropped oxygen levels and he was gasping, and I also suspect an spike ammonium, although it was odd to me because it read zero on my liquid test kit a few hours (would probably be smart to test it now..). Hopefully my inverts don't die.... will check on all the corals tomorrow morning and put in my hopefully still live rock.

Update: wrasse has survived and living comfortably in short-term QT (plastic tote with DT water, weak powerhead and few pieces of pvc)... Until actual QT is fully cycled. Added bio-spira in QT and water shows minimal ammonium and high nitrites so it's moving in the right direction. My legion of inverts survived the crap storm from last night and still chilling in the DT. But since everything is super clean, there is very little food so added some dry algae on a clip and they have been feasting. My concern is I only put a few pieces of live rock back in the tank and all others are sitting in 5 gallon buckets of freshwater, however, I didn't put those in buckets for a few hours so I'm concerned they are "used to be" live rock and I will have to cycle again... do you think 2 hours would have killed off all the good bacteria?

No one has mentioned an Algae Turf Scrubber (ATS)? Wow! There is no easier and better way to rid your algae forever than an ATS. No need to use any chemicals or any other method. 100% effective 100% of the time.

Post a pic of your screen so we can see the growth on it. How often do you need to scrape all the algae off? Do you have the ATS lighted? I light mine 18 hours a day of a high-growth plant LED panel.
Yep same here 18hrs on and 6 off i have 2 led grow bulbs amd the mesh is 8.5"x5" its only 6 weeks old so it might not be running long enough yet to eliminate algae from the dt yet. Just did my first clean last week so i have a pic of thw first 5 weeks of growth. Also i have 70 gallons of total water volume so idk if my screen is large enough

How much do you feed?
Reef roids bi weekly (mondays and Thursdays) a pinch or two of flakes 2x a week and 1 cube of frozen mysis or or brine shimp once a week
My livestock is(not including corals):
2 ocellaris clowns
Sailfin tang
Orchid dottyback
Scooter blenny
6 or 7 hermit crabs
3 turbo snails (just added today)
Sandsifting starfish (just added today)
