I have an issue with some sps

I don't really think that it is a worm or another animal what is eating on them... I will take my phosphate remover from the system and over a week my carbon. And see what this will give me.

How you count the light... 12 hours full light or with ramp up and down together.... This is a big difference of course

GR Michel

If you want, have it ramp up and ramp down for 30 minutes, but total time without darkness shouldn't be much more than 8 or 9 hour with good quality LED's and T5's in my opinion and experience.

Reading this and your build threat I'm sure that you do over kill on your filters.
Install a valve on your BP reactor and reduce slowly, feed your fish a bit more but monitor your phosphates everyday.
You can leave your carbon running, that only keeps your water crisp clear.
Also looking at your lights running at 60%............you use ecotech radions, what is running on 60%?
You have two setting on there do you run your colors spectrum on 60% or your intensity of all?
I still think that you run your LED's to high.
I have them too and started out on 35% on intensity only, increasing but 3% every week.
Now I'm running them on 60% only and they are 14" above the water surface.
SPS can be tricky and they don't bounce back with in a week or so sometimes it takes a month or more.
Of course there are many ways to take care of this problem but start with bringing your phosphate up to 0.03 or so.
Btw, Gaan we een Elfsteden tocht hebben dit jaar?

I toke off yesterday my reactor with phosphate killer.
For my radions I run now shallow reef mode from ecotech live with spectrum and tir lenses. I run it in acclimation mode what increase my leds from 45% to 85% in 6 weeks time.
Do you have a good setup for my radions?
The Radions are now 28cm from the water line.

Ik geloof niet dat er een Elfsteden tocht komt dit jaar... Maar zeker weten doe je het nooit.

I run a custom setup from John, he's one of the main guys at Ecotech.
Will see if I find it and you can import that on your live.
I myself don't have Ecotech live installed yet, just running from the web still.
28 cm is about 11" it can be to low if you have the TIR lenses, TIR lenses increase your led's about 40% too according to Ecotech.

In 1986 heb ik zelf de Elfsteden tocht gereden, ik geloof dat mijn tijd was 8 uur en 7 minuten.
Ik geloof dat Evert van Benthem won dat jaar, lang geleden voor mijn.

I saw his settings passing on the net but where I forget... Is this setting really so good because I downloaded it but for my feelings it was very blue... Is this a good setting for sps????

Did the color change in the coral happen before or after the lighting change?

Another suggestion i have for retaining nutrients in the water is to turn your skimmer off once in a while.

Beautiful tank!

I have really no clue what is going on this days... My tank was running nice and smooth. I added my new frag tank last week to the system and since than everything went strange..
My coral is 80% for sure a light issue and I changed today the hight of my leds because I made the big mistake that I also run with the new TIR lenses and this give more bright light.
About my nitrate and phosphate issue is still a question for me... This more because I have more sensitive corals for nitrate and phosphate issues. All the corals SPS who are fading are standing on top...
I think I need some time rest and see what is going on... The frags I have they have no problem at all with colour fading as well.

As we know to many changes in a short time need time to settle down again.

My yellow tang went to heaven today without any sign off illness or whatever so this was also not nice today.
Another strange thing was that my orp dropped from 350 to 152 today.. I cleaned the probe and calibrated again but still the same...

Welcome to the nice hobby reef keeping...

Sorry to hear your Tang went down the pipe.
Keep up your # and take care of the 0 po4, don't make to much changes.
SPS is all about time and more time.

I agree complete with you and for sure I did something wrong... But where and when is the question as always.. It is for every system another story and not one can run the same...
