I NEED HELP! SW 30 GALLON LONG SOMEONE PLEASE!

Hi I'm new here and need all the help I can get... we'll I've been reading these forums and such but Im 16 and still have alot to learn. I started this hobby cause I wanna be a deep sea biologist. So here's my problem. Ive had a 10 gallon SW with Sailfin Mollies and Lyretail Dalmation Mollies. They gave birth to over 100 frys. Now this is bad. Over stock with overload of P.O.O.P. Now ive transfered my fish then they started to die. Found them under the rocks and such. But my tanks cloudless won't go away. Ive tested my water at the fish store and the p.h is I belive 7.5... since mollies don't like that theyre dying. I'm trying to start a saltwater tank and their in there. Now i know they can tolerate a reef tank but I'm just consurned about the cloudlyness.

The coudieness is likely a bacteria bloom. Get an airstone (a bubbler) going ASAP....Do a partial water change matching salinity and temperature as close as you can.

You can use baking soda to bring up the pH a little. go very slow...disolve 1-2 teaspoons in a cup of water. Add a little - watch the fish - all ok add a little more. Get as much of the poop out and any dead fish too.

If you have any water tratment like seachem prime or amquel - use it. Treat the whole volume of the tank. But DO NOT DO THIS untill the bubbler has been running for an hour or so...you'll deplete the oxygen.

Did you do a partial water change? That's almost always the first thing to do. It will dilute whatever is in the water. I'd get a syphon and get that gunk out of the bottom too.

I would do a water change - Maybe 25% and add some carbon to the filter.. Also make sure you have some sort of filter floss to help pullout any sediment in the water... You could also think about purchasing a small hang on the back skimmer..

How long has it been setup? Was it tested for ammonia? 7.5Ph shouldn't have been that deadly. Water movement will help. What kind of filter is currently on there currently? How long has the tank been setup?

Thanks Mr.Robert. okay i will get an aiirstone . ive done a water change around 5 days ago. i will do another 30 percent right now and wait for it to settle down and clear up, i got all the poop and dead fishes out . i will get those treatments . and also i have an aquaclear 30 with bioballs and half of the sponge, and an old aqueon filter with the same. thanks again for your reponse but i want a different filter affordable too. hows and penguin biowheel filter?

thaankx. i have an aquaclear 30 with bioballs and a sponge off the top and an old aqueoon with the same. my 10 gallon been up for i belive almost 4 month then i switched it to a 30 gallon long which has been up for two and a half weeks i belive.

yes ammonia was up alittle when i tested the water at the fish store. i dont know how much i can find out tommorow but it was safe . they just told me to use the bioballs and bateria and a waterchange. still the same.

and also i have a n aquaclear 50 powerhead but is that too strong, the fishes but swim on one side of the aquarium and some of the small ones just stay in the bottom. should i leave it on like how long?

I have a biowheel filter and it works good for a small tank. I would make sure you go up a size to get better filteration and flow. If you don't have a skimmer I would get one of those too, again oversized.

as you can see with the light on the cloudlyness is a milky white. and the pump is turned on so you guys can see the fishes . is that normal or should i get a differnet one

thank u is their other filters i thinking of getting one but what skimmer do u have in mind i never had a skimmer.

I have found that Mollies don't like a lot of flow. I would get them out of there and into something else anyway.

Skimmers can in any $ range but they usually aren't cheap. I currently have one by Instant Ocean. Its rated for up to 100 gallons but my tank is 55.
