I need to vent !

What do you want to run UV for?
UV addresses free floating Bacteria, parasites, and some algaes. Not sure what else he'd want it for

Just spent over 400 bucks on this UV and it’s missing the reducers to go from 2” to 3/4” . Aqua UVs response? “Oh sorry things happen.” Returning to BRS tonight!!! What other UV options are there?!?

Did they offer to do anything for you...?

Send you the missing parts overnight...?

Nothing...?

Already on my way to the LFS to get a new unit . Same one 25 watt classic . Going to return this one to BRS. Think I should go to 57 watt for a 120 gallon tank? Or just stick with the 25?
25 is fine. I ran about that much on my 187g and had good results after a few days. I only used the uv at night.

Are the reducers proprietary in some way? Maybe you can get the reducers locally?

You can buy the reducers from Aqua UV directly...

Too late already have the replacement. They aren’t charging shipping on the return and I want it running tonight
Will you start a second rant if your dinos aren't the type that go into the water column overnight?

But I do wish you much success.

Absolutely nothing but said they’ll start a ticket and get back to me. Terrible feeling in my stomach when they did that

Eh if that’s the case then I’ll have to take a different approach. But I don’t think the UV will be a negative on my system

Buy them? When it was a brand new unit from BRS? That’s outrageous to even suggest

Did they not offer to send the missing part? That would be the surprising thing since I can't think of any company that wouldn't send a missing part for free.

This. Had good customer service with them over buying a second hand 40 & 55w uv's and needing parts in both situations.

I have a 120 watt Lifegard UV, they are all pretty much the same at that quality it's really a simple product. UV light inside of a quartz tube inside of housing for water to run through. I would never run a tank without a UV, beware a larger unit can really heat your water a lot. Before I had fish in my 500 gallon with the UV running it got the water up to 90F, not running a heater either.

How long have you had it now, I'm considering a 3" 120 watt for a system that's total water volume is about 250g. The price is better than Aqua UV and lifeguard aquatics is local to me.
I just changed the first light on my 3" 120 watt. Never had any issues with leaks or anything else. Really simple to install.

I have this light on my 250, I ended up needing to use a temp controller and run a fan above my tank for cooling.

In this application, we already have a chiller when necessary (rarely). Only reason I'm considering something else is the uv we are currently are using is getting long in the tooth wear and tear wise imho (90w Ice Cap).

I run a 57w on my 120 display and that thing never needs the heaters (2x250w) except when I don't heat the new water when it's changed out. Big difference is my sumps are in the stands and the house is kept at 65-67 degrees.

Bought it Nov 2021

It has directional connectors and the ballast counts down to bulb change and it has replaceable sleeves so the PVC doesn't degrade eventually and so on. My Aqua UV was just a tube, idk where they factor in their cost.
