I'm getting a 120 gallon and am planning on having LOTS of fish. And feedings every day, including feeding the LPS and SPS.

I am planning on the I-Tech model 200 cone skimmer. It's $587.83 with the recommended pump.

My question is, can I get a skimmer that is better for the same price? Or even a cheaper skimmer that works just as good?

Thanks!

I agree for about $70 more you can get an ATB.

You may also consider the octopus cone. CS 200, the octo xtreme 200 with the bubble blaster upgrade. The vertex IN 180 would also work really well. Just my two cents but I think your $$ is better spent elswhere.

Okay. I've never had a skimmer other than the Tunze 9002 Doc in my nano, so I don't know much. I really don't want to go over 500 if it isn't necessary.

What ATB are you talking about?

And the Octo Xtreme 200, I was looking at... What does the bubble blaster upgrade do?

atb 840 v 1.5

super octopus 2000 would be my choice here

bascially the same as the atb but $200 cheaper and a better pump

#1 and #2 are the same thing just different models, its hard to tell from PA's website, i think one of them is the external model

the sro is a better skimmer than the xtreme

Well one is a cone skimmer... the other isn't. They both use the Bubble blaster 2000 pump. Are they that much different?

oops sorry got confused

link #2 is the one you want

mojo could answer your questions better but i am positive that link #2 is head and shoulders above the other 2 skimmers you have up there

Okay. I just don't understand why the worse one is more expensive than the better.

Not sure how it will perform but here are two pics. I know the ATB will perform though. :)

Just my $.02....I am running the I-tech 200 on my 225 display with 23 fish that get fed Rod's food 2x daily during the week and 4x daily on the weekends. I also direct feed the palys and LPS frozen cyclopeeze at least once a week. My Nitrates are undetectable on my Lamotte kit.

Is I-Tech the best out there? Opinions are like you know whats. I can only attest to what has been the most impressive skimmer I have had since anyone started making skimmers. (Been in the game for 32 years, way before there were skimmers)

avoid octopus like the plague, unless you cannot afford anything else, because customer service is crap, all he wants to do is move product. I own an I-tech 200 and CS is great and the skimmer rocks, ATB, never owned one but the reviews on performance and CS speak for themselves.

I have seen the I-Tech 100 in person on a 67 gallon and I was quite impressed. I was surprised to hear that they weren't the best for the money...

Do you think the I-Tech 100 would be enough for a 120 with bioload like yours?

Not so much the same exact bioload, but the same bioload per gallon if I'm making sense.

msx are good skimmers.. same thing as the octopus.. and grey sea aquatics has some nice american made cone skimmers that use a good sicce pump.. i just put a msx extreme on my 135 gallon
