I think it's velvet

Not sure this is any better? Was laying on his side this morning so did another freshwater dip (made it the full 5 minutes still no drop offs). He has been upright since. Hard to get a picture. Should get meds for brook tomorrow.

He looks to be in pretty bad shape. :( I honestly can't say for sure if this is velvet or brook, but either way the formalin should help.

Following the formalin bath I strongly recommend transferring him into a new/sterile QT to prevent reinfection. Put him in a 5 gal bucket for a day or two if you need time to break down & sterilize the QT.

If you can put it outside where it can air out. Rinse until you can't smell any more bleach. Don't towel dry. Keep us posted. We want to help you save this guy.

thank you. I appreciate it. I really hope he makes it until tomorrow when the medicine arrives. I know it won't be an instant cure, but hopefully it will start the process. He's been a fighter so far. Strangely enough he is not in his cave hiding today, he's hiding behind it but he's out in the open in the light.

How slowly? He is in a 10 gallon. How much fresh should i replace at a time until i reach the target salinity?

so i had the brilliant idea to put a few ice cubes in to bring down the temp and slowly lower the salinity at the same time. We have well water so no chlorine, but it isn't rodi. Is that OK?

You could probably take out a cup of water and replace it with fresh each time.
And how often?

Once every hour or half hour. They can drop down easier than going up, but being he's so sick you want to take it easy on him.

I would think it's ok, though I don't have enough knowledge of what's in well water to know for sure. Next time, freeze RODI or distilled water for that purpose.

I would use ice cubes from the same freshwater you use for your aquariums. Take a good 10-12 hrs to gradually lower the SG/temp.
