We have a 4-5 inch Undulate Triggerfish in our tank. I know, it came with the tank I didn't put it in there. We have 110G display with lots of coral but a light fish load - 2 clown, 1 file, 1 purple tank and 1 trigger. Funny thing, the person I bought the tank from hadn't seen the trigger in over a month. The tank was broke down and transported 120 miles then put back together. A week later, the trigger emerges from a rock. But, anyway, my wife ( @Susannah.odle ) noticed the someone tried to have a little snack of our male clown (had to be the trigger). Does the clown need to be put in QT or will he just suck it up? The trigger use to be pretty timid. In the last couple weeks it is starting to get aggressive. I am also noticing some of the newer snails we got empty...

I love triggers honestly, one of my favorites! I keep my niger trigger (Grunt) VERY well fed. I feed him chunky then plankton/mysis with the other fish, alternating with squid, krill and other meaty stuff. Might be why mine is chill, he was like public enemy number one in the LFS though . Maybe try feeding it more to see if that lessens aggression?

I love my niger trigger, he never messed with any one in the tank, he just moved my sand every where in my reef tank! Now he is in his own tank and eats out of my hand.

Nigers and Blue Throats are very peaceful if they are kept well fed. Undulated on the other hand are known to kill everything in a tank on a whim. I would never keep one in a community tank with other fish. You're just asking for it...it's only a matter of time.

The clown should be ok, without QT, if that missing section is purely tail and didn’t get into “the meat” of the body. Fin sections grow quite quickly actually. Just keep an eye out for any redness or fluffy white growth that could be infection requiring attention.

As to the trigger? Nope, nope, nope. Murder machine.

Sounds like you need another tank with a fowlr set up. Keep the trigger add lunar wrasse miniatus grouper and a phat eel and big ole porcupine puffer and u good to go.

Undulates are psychos (alongside Clown, Bluelines and Queen triggers). Only meant for a predator tank as far as I’m concerned.
You ever kept a clown trigger? I have a juv coming next week

I have a Niger trigger 5 inches now in a 125 with multiple damsels and angels NEVER bothered anyone. Had for 2 years. They get fed 4x a day. good luck
