I think the trigger must go...

I have heard they are mean and aggressive too. No?
I heard that too but fish are all individuals and Ive read that the best success was to add them last and as small as you can so I decided to try it!

Good luck with that. They are super cool looking. My husband keeps wanted to trade the Undy for a clown, but I don't want to trade one weapon for another just yet.

Yes they have their own personalities and yes as a species the clown is aggressive but not to the extent of the undulated. My LFS got one years back and it ran the FOWLR owner circuit in my area for a long time. Not that they can’t get them it’s just trying to home them.

We are also wondering if the female clown is doing it to the smaller male. She's been super aggressive to him.

You ever kept a clown trigger? I have a juv coming next week

I haven’t, I just added a Sargassum to my reef (first trigger in over 25 years). But there are countless stories of Clowns going on a rampage on the forums.

They’re great and engaging community fish up until a certain age/size, then one day they’ll flip and just massacre a tank.

Having puffers, triggers, and a few sets of clowns, the missing eye is most likely the triggers doing.

The female clowns can be relentless. Just, the bites would cause the male to flee from her. The male can't handle that kind of abuse from his lady, he would flee trying to prevent it.
If he's keeping with her. Might be for comfort or hopes of protection.

If she gets injured next, the trigger is the reason.

Thank you. I've been watching her with the trig today and seems normal. We have a plan to trap him and remove him. :-(

Its just my opinion from past experiences.

Also, most fish wont misbehave if they see you. They're odd like that.
The female clown hasn't been attacked by the trigger since the male has been removed. Still so puzzled about who the culprit is. The trigger is just so beautiful, but he's probably better suited for someone else's tank.

Perhaps someone really didn't like the poor male clown.

Hopefully, he's still recovering.

It's a very odd situation. One fish veing targeted. Maybe it was the female clown. And he just accepted the abuse?
