I wanna know

FYI, you don't have to drill holes in the bottom of the tank. There are no holes drilled in my tank for the closed loop returns. Just the 1 1/2" hole in the back to feed the pump. The bottom front returns are run down the back wall with black PV and under the sand bed.

Thanks for that tidbit of info...lol

may have just figured out what I will do.

got a pic of your tank? what pump are you using? Got a suggestion for one for my tank?

This is a pic of the tank before I finished the closed loop. I reconfigured the lower returns before I added sand and I don't think I ever took pics of the way it is now.

This shows more than one return on each side, which was taken out and I went with just the one return in each bottom corner and the two upper corners. I also did away with the LocLine when I figured out how to conceal the bottom returns.

I used black pvc against the black background, so you really have to look close to see the pipe running down the back wall, alongside of the overflow.

This is how I plumbed the 4Way valve.

This is how the tank is plumbed at the top from the 4Way.

This is the tank a couple of months ago. The arch hides the big honkin closed loop return screen.

As far as pumps go, I am probably not the one to ask. I have a Dart on mine, they are known power hogs - but, it has given me great reliability and performance. That pump would be too much for your tank though. Maybe look at an Eheim. Pricey, but another very reliable pump.
