so you saying that not only are these really expensive but they might turn out to totally suck in the end? i suppose thats way outside of any type of guarantee they make.

60 views nobody else has any comments? cmon guys i'm not diseased or anything!! lol.. i dont have nudis or spiders.. i swear!

Alot of people read your thread and see it is a very common and much talked about subject.

It all boils down to, if you want those colors, you pay those prices.
If liveaquaria prices are higher than everyone else's and people stop buying from them (ain't gonna happen) then they will see this and lower the prices.

What's really nice about this website is we can find the great deals out there and let others know about them.

Some people will pay >$200 for a bottle of wine
Some people will pay >$100,000 for a car
Some people will pay >$1,000,000 for a painting
Some people will pay for a Clay Aiken CD . . .

I wouldn't. I don't think you're going to hear an answer that makes you understand why some people act the way they do.

I have a friend with a cellar full of $200 or so bottles of wine. Man do I LOVE it when he invites us over for dinner. :D lol

To mods/admins, Please dont ban me for this, you can see above that i have asked first, if this is against rules please just close the thread.

What i've noticed is a SEVERE price jump when any blue polyps are included and I cant seem to figure out why that is. Here are the examples i am talking about:

don't worry dude. this is a perfectly legit thread IMO. we don't run this forum with a large stag coral up our butts.... :hammer:

 do i really need to comment on this? lol

you are all stupid and will never understand the coral pricing..I on the other hand decide the pricing for everything, and yes I am every evil.

Otherwise it's all supply / demand / guess work.

I personally just go by the beauty and supply of the coral. If it's really colorful and I haven't seen it elsewhere I am willing to pay. If I've seen it before (on-line or in person) I get a look at the 'market' rate and go from there.

I tell you one thing though -- I wouldn't be paying top $ for ANY zoa/paly with a brown skirt. Life's too short, and my aquarium's too small to pay a lot of money for the color brown....heck, why not just leave the rocks bare? At least they're purple.

thanks, i never realized i was stupid.. i guess thats a prerequisite for being smart..

i'm sure, we're all very glad to be in the presence of the ben bernake of the coral world..

LOL....

I honestly think it's no big deal.
SCP443, I am going to take a guess that these Pallys must be very appealing to you or you wouldn't be on such a tyraid. If you don't like the price I wouldn't purchase them. If LiveAquaria finds a buyer then they priced it correctly, If not they will drop the price until it becomes "the right price."
I personally wouldn't pay 10 bucks for the frag, but I think someone will find it appealing....

I agree great thread....carry on! :D

yeah they are pretty cool. I would pay $50 for any one of those blue colonies in a second, maybe $100 if i really liked it, but $190? they're dreaming. I've got 15 triple reds that blow any of those away in color intensity for $30. half what they're chargeing. it doesnt even matter really, i dont buy there too often, i dont trust the photos. i do like to browse through and see what eye candy i can find. thats what started all this.

Doesn't anyone think there is something wrong with this? how much more expensive could it be to import blue polyps? none. theyre the same size and weight etc.. these other colonies on here, the ones with 100s of polyps on them, it looks like you might pay that much just for the rock they're on, depending on where you go. i believe liveaqaria is price gouging. not illegal price gouging because these corals are not a necessity by any means but these prices have got to be inconsistent with the market. doesnt mean they wont sell though, i hope they do, higher incentive, will mean more supply, hopefully...
