Hi All,

Just picked up an Icecap 3k Gyre for my 60g cube. I know I’ll have to likely run it at low % to not disturb the sand. I’m interested on suggestions on speed and mode. I have all my rock central in the tank. Thanks!

You will probably just have to mess with it and figure out what works best for your tank. I'm running in 2 in mine at 30% on Gyre mode. Right now I have fish only with one leather, I know once I start populating the tank with more corals and Anenomes it will need to be adjusted again. The nice part is it can be switched from verticle to horizontal and I can direct the flow. Cleaning the 3ks are pretty easy.

Fish only for me right now as well. What size tank do you have them on?

And when you say gyre mode are you referring to the constant speed mode?

Using the alternating Gyre mode at the moment.

5 Flow Modes
  • Constant Speed Mode
  • Pulsing Mode
  • Gradual Pulsing Mode
  • Random Mode
  • And Alternating Gyre Mode

Saw that one but when I watched the coralvue video they said you had to buy some extra parts to get that to run with a single pump. Figured next best option would be the random or pulse.

Not sure about the video your talking about. I run the same mode on a single 1k in our 32 and that mode on one 3k before I bought the second one.

That’s the video I watched. Is there another way to set it up?

I see what your saying, it will run its standard Gyre mode or as the guy in the video called it the "signature Gyre mode" out of the box without the additional parts. If I am understanding the video correctly this is allowing you to utilize the reverse mode for more tubulance buy switching out the directional propellers allowing you to direct half of the pump in a different direction.

That was my understanding as well. He almost made it seem like it wasn’t worth using the mode.

I think he was just tossing out another option. No matter what mode you go with imo it's a nice pump.

I gotcha. I’ll have to do some more research on that mode then. You running it horizontally on that mode?

Mine are virticle one at each end but as I said it's not a standard shaped tank.
