Chemical treatments (e.g. copper) and hyposalinity have only been proven to target the theront or free swimming stage. There is some evidence (but not conclusive) that the protomont might also be negatively impacted.

what's your take on why cupramine instructions say 14 days.

Not long enough unless you can transfer the fish to another QT at least 10 feet away.

If using just 1 QT, treat with Cupramine for 30 days. This applies to all types of copper.

for sure, i meant why do you think they say 14 days is good enough. is it just marketing, maybe outdates info they haven't updated yet ect..?

I think because 14 days is usually adequate for freshwater parasites (like Ichthyophthirius), but marine parasites typically have longer life cycles. Seachem is either ill-informed about that or just doesn't care enough to provide more thorough label instructions.

Turns out is was praziquantel resistant flukes. I went hypo for 7 days at a sg of 1.009 and that did the trick. Been above 1.015 for over a week and no sign of any spots or flashing so I think i am in the clear.

If 3 fish have been in qt for 3 weeks...coral beauty,chromis, and hippo tang...with copper at 2.0..and only hippo tang has ever had a spots on him...1 can I put the coral beauty and chronic in display or wait for all 3 at same time...and the hippo has had like 3 white spots on him the whole time in the exact same spots

The recommended treatment with copper is 30 days. Then remove copper from the tank, and observe for at least 10 days.
If you go less than 30 days (at least 14-15 days), we recommend moving the fish into a clean, sterile tank and observe for 10 days to see if the parasites reappear in the water of a clean, sterile tank without any residual copper there to hinder their reappearance.
