I posted this in the QT thread, but figures it’s probably better in its own thread. Thoughts on this? Ich, velvet, or? Couldn’t get a good pic so I took a video of him. My pink tail trigger has these dull spots along his sides. Thought it was ich at first, but he doesn’t have the dots all over like I normally see. Thanks!

Sorry but the video is not working on this end. All I get is some sound of a tank running.

In the middle of his top fin he has a white spot, but the other dull spots on him aren’t showing up in the photos. I’ll keep trying to get better ones.

You got the video to work? I just couldn’t see actual dots on him. More of dull spots.
Yup, my phone downloaded the file and was able to play it. At certain lighting and angles in the video I can see spots that look like ich. Don't think it's velvet or brook.

I’m struggling to see anything that resembles ich. Not to say it’s not there however.
Yeah it's hard to tell in the video. But I do see spots, so could either be ich or just lymphos hopefully

They’re not buldgy or bulbous at all. Just like a white film. It’s hard to tell for sure. It is getting more prevalent though. I’ll try to get another video and pics. Just want to make sure I’m treating for the right thing. :-)

On his body it doesn’t look like a bunch of tiny spots, but in the video it looks more like ich. I don’t know if that is more of the air bubbles from the water column or sand. (Sand floats around quite a bit due to flow.)

Ich has a life cycle of 3-7 days and then drops off the fish into the substrate into the reproductive stage. If you notice the spots are gone in a better of hours then it is most likely air bubbles attached to the mucus coat. However, it does look like possible ich and if that is the case you'll need to treat with copper for 30 days in QT and run Display aquarium fallow for 76 days.

Has anyone had luck treating ich in the DT with metroplex and focus? I have a 300 gal with wrasses that bury themselves making it very difficult, if not impossible to catch. I saw a thread on using hydrogen peroxide to treat, but it seems like I’m going to need gallons of it to treat. Lol

Unfortunately it wont have any impact on ich.

General cure the same thing?
Yes. GC contains praziquantel and metro which is effective against flukes and uronema. CP and copper are going to treat ich.

Agree. And note to the OP this is done in a separate tank. Never dose in your main display

I was told you can feed it with focus to make it reef safe in the DT. Is this not true? I’m running carbon as well btw.

Prazi or gc soaked in focus is. I was referring to the copper treatment :)
