Icp Phosphorus Levels

Do you know what your source for elevated levels of copper, tin and aluminum are? I show similar results as you from my recent ICP test and tore the tank apart looking for rust. Per Triton, all the should be at 0.

you and I are in the red zone.

Thanks bud! I don’t have any ICP tests. I’ve thought about doing one as a baseline, but as long as I keep doing what I’m doing I don’t see a need for one, yet.

but total p is 3 separate forms of phosphate

there is no direct correlation this is what i do for a living removing total p from sewage

Doesn’t seem to be anything alarming to Icp-analysis. Or my corals

So the phosphorus level from the Icp and my Hanna ultra low phosphorus and ultra low phosphate checkers are not related?

Last year I tested close to 0 on the Hanna ULR and they tested 0.08. This year my phosphates are .10 to .15 and they tested 0.05. Since phosphates are always being inported and exported I feel there may be an issue with the sample collected or if transit caused some issues. Who knows, glad you got a accurate reading I still trust there testing and love the new website and how it makes it easy to track trends

My Hannah Ultra low found 0 or 1 ppb in water in the Coral Sea, Florida Keys and also in Cancun (well, Playa).

Triton and ATI give you phosphorus and phosphates. With the comments Randy left regarding icp-analysis.com, I wouldn't personally use them but that doesn't mean they're useless.

Nope, neither of those two are. The ATI in the link took nine days to receive; ICP isnt an emergency tool, it's a snapshot of where your tank is at and I cant imagine needing it more than once or twice a year to use as a sanity check.

Triton is tested in Germany, but I get my results usually in a week after mailing to CA.

I tested cancun too and it there was no color change on saliferts po4. Oh how i miss playa del carmen...

There is no direct correlation between phosphate and phosphrus
Phosphate occurs in 3 forms you will be measuring 1 form only orthophosphate is the easiest to measure and often quoted as should be 0.03 in a reef tank though i cant find the scientific proof of this

icp to hanna ul phosphorous hopefully should correspond though i would expect a level of discrepancy after all one is design for hobbyists and is priced as such.
The equivalent testing equipment we use on site costs many thousands but is designed to ensure we meet our obligations (and reduce the risk of prosecution)
