ok.
conspic recently acquired. For past week has been hanging in the air bubble stream. no visual signs of ick or flukes but given the habit of hanging in the air stream and the scratching.. a few times I did two rounds of prazi. That did not help and the habits continued. So started HYPO. I do not like copper.
He is eating great and swimming and acting normal except for the habits. Today I woke to find he has this bump growing on his crown.. on his head..

Bacterial? he is in a 50 gallon QT .. Salinity is at 1.011. Not true hypo yet.

thanks

My plan is to do a nice water change ..50% run some chemi pure.. and feed some Dr G .. anti bacteria food...
thanks

Bacterial infection. However, if he is still hanging in the air stream and scratching then the infection is likely secondary to a preexisting parasitic infestation. Could be ich (which hypo may or may not cure), but the prevalence of velvet nowadays makes me use copper or CP on each & every fish.

not velvet.. in QT for over week so.. if velvet im sure he would be dead by now. what your preferred copper treatment.. thanks

Velvet can take up to a month to show up, if the fish was subjected to subtherapeutic copper before you got him.

I prefer to use chelated copper (Coppersafe) on angelfish.

he was in another tank doing well. but my model is to QT all new fish regardless. so here i am... plan will be to do large water change to remove the prazi that might still be there.. and do a copper treatment and feed some good antibiotic foods. any other suggestions welcome. thnaks

ok update.. he still has the bump... but now wondering if 55 gallon is just to small and he got this by swimming into the plaster tupperware in the tank or the amonia alert..

Unlikely. I agree with Humble this is likely an infection needing antibiotics.

Ok. Thanks.

I have been feeding dr g caviar antibiotics

ok.. he is not eating the Dr G's anymore.. so since he is in 55 gallon QT.. give me some suggestions for which antibiotic product to use in the water to make sure he is getting the meds. thanks

need some more help.. so he stopped eating. He starting to breath harder. swimming but again not eating. here are pics of the bumb/infection. this am. thanks

all three same time?

all three same time?

Yes. If he's stopped eating and acting normally, then it may be too late. A 45 minute acriflavin dip should help arrest the infection long enough for the antibiotics to help. Increase O2 while treating. Dose every other day after a water change and do this for 10 days straight... it may take a bit longer so you can go to 14 days if needed (assuming progress is being made and it's not getting worse).

I agree with all of the above, and I would HIGHLY recommend the acriflavine bath asap...

ok reporting back.. he is still hanging in there.. he is not interested in eating.. he is however, not breathing to heavy.. he however is starting to develop popeye also now..
question..
i see the instructions say dose the metor and kana...but Furan 2 is one dose day one,, second dose day two. and then water change and repeat..

can i use the tank water with the actibotic in a bucket and add the acriflavan for the bath.. so in other words i dont want to use new fresh saltwater to avoid any shock.. is there a negative effect in the bath since the furan and other antibotics will be mixed with the acraflavin.?

When I treated with these three, I ignored the Furan-2 instructions and re-dosed all three every 48 hours for 10 days, with a 25% water change before each dose. I didn't have any issues doing it this way. Just make sure you have plenty of aeration, a power head aimed at the surface plus an airline work well.
