No, I didn't have popeye but my rhomboid had some pretty wicked swelling on his face. And a few of the fish had a white film and fin-rot. I was able to successfully treat all but one wrasse (a flame) who hung on for a good while but eventually succumbed. I have a long, detailed QT thread on it if you're interested. My infection was secondary to an ich infestation.

Sorry, but it looked too late in the photos... you have to treat that stuf pretty early as it can take ten days or more to have much noticeable impact.. :(

Ugh, sorry...bacterial stuff can progress pretty quickly :( that's a tough one to lose too

wow.. 40 years of salt water fish and live and learn.. seems like years ago .. decades never had issues with bacteria infections... just the old ick and stuff.
so weird how this developed. wondering.. if my QT tank has some bad nasties in it. another thought.. my water vat that does the make up water. It does not really drain all the way.. so sometimes.. in the 60 gallon vat there is like 5 gallons sitting on the bottom for a week or so.. then I refile... with ro/di... add salt and do a water change.. perhaps.. bacteria has formed in the make up vat?

It's possible, but it may have just come in with the fish too. Usually, a fishes immune system can keep most bacteria at bay...but, shipping stress, parasites, etc can cause them to be more susceptible. Gram-negative infections can be especially nasty, and while not super common, do sometimes come in with new fish.

I would definitely suggest breaking down your QT and water station for a good cleaning/sterilization before trying again. Not just for bacterial infections, but also to prevent biofilm which can make medications less effective.

thank you for your help... will tear and down and restart. not so easy to steriliz a 60 gallon vat and make sure all the bleach is out..
