ID: Cyano, Dinos, Other?

Yeah , again sounds like cyano. Dinos would have reformed In hours. A day at most.

I can try it again, I've just been semi-cautious about disruption to keep it localized (I don't know if that even make sense, I understand "it's in the water").

Yeah I don't think its possable to keep it from spreading. Especially dinos.

Those corals sit on a rock loaded with some sort of crap, I don't know how you can judge the health of my tank on them, but ok. I have some SPS I added a few weeks after those and they are doing pretty good (albeit not great) I think. I won't argue that I feed too much, that's a given. Tank is new-ish, also true. I use a 48" LifeReef skimmer powered by 1600gph @ 2 ft. head. I am somewhere between wet/dry skimming. I run a Santa Monica HOG3 which is near-worthless, so if you can convince @Floyd R Turbo to get his butt in gear, I would greatly appreciate it.

. My return is around 1800gph and runs through an Oceans Motions 4-way. Supplementing that is a Gyre 150 and 2 Neptune WAV units running in opposite mode at about 90%. It's not a water-park, but it moves.

I can tell by the expansion of the corals tissue. It's not happening.

Do y have a tds meter? I had all kinds of green algae and red slime and I got one. It told me that my top off water was gaining 10-15 ppm per day it sat in a bucket. Now that I constantly check my tds and the water does not go in my tank if it is more then 5 ppm. And that alone has cut my nuisance algae in half over the last month and a half

And dust and dust and dust. The algae holds food and wast so it can't get to your filter.

I would talk to San Monica about the algae scrubber. Because it should work great.
One algae scrubber is not that much better than another.

Try a little red slime remover in it. Then you'll know. Its pretty affective

Isn't Chemiclean for cyano, and isn't red slime cyano? If so, inside that bag is a scoop of Chemiclean, about a cup of water, and the sample. That was done Sat afternoon and the sealed bag has been sitting on my bathroom counter since. Just an hour ago that clump was still red and kicking. I'm so confused.

I shook the bag like crazy and set it back on counter. If it reforms at this point, I can't imagine we're dealing with cyano?

Pretty bummed myself... Microscope shows up Wednesday, I guess that's truth day.
