Does anyone know what this is attached to the rock?

It is actually a calcium based algae. Very pretty but invasive. I'm sorry I can't remember the exact name but hopefully some else will chime in.

It is Neomeris annulata....a macro algae that does love calcium. You can manually remove it if you don't want it in your tank.

Thanks everyone for the help. Is it harmful? I thought it was kind of cool because I had never seen it before but wasn't sure if it would damage the tank. Thanks again everyone.

Think of it like star polyps. They grow fast and can be appealing to some but not others. They won't hurt anything but like I said they grow fast and will take over live rock. If you like em then keep em!

Would you happen to know how to get rid of them? I tried picking them out but that only seemed to make them grow faster... Any fish that will eat them?

I have had these before.. They have a pretty good strong hold of the liverock.. May be difficult to remove from the rock without using rock cutters and getting underneath them.. If you are successful removing them.. Let me know, I would take some off your hands for my seahorse tank!

I've picked them off before but no sooner that you pick one off, two or three more grow in a different spot.
