Depends on how it feels during the day. Sometimes it looks like a solid purple mass with little tubes all over. In the evenings it really expands. Latest shot tonight...
I know right now at night they suck all the way in and you can't see them at all, but when I turn the light on the slowly come out. But hopefully it'll get better when I get my full spectrum led in
As long as your water is good they will end up doing just fine I'm sure better light will help them but I have some in the shade on the bottom and up top starting to grow on the glass very close to the light. They are very hardy and seem to be a love or hate coral by most people. No one likes their zoa garden/ sps being grown over in my opinion as long as u clip it down ( very easy to do ) before it becomes a problem it's great and even better because you got it for free!
I have never personally owned a long spine urchin though I know that they are known to mow down coralline algae and my friend that had one had a bad experience with one eating bits of sps. I would say it's definitely possible and with it growing the way it does I would think it's just a matter of time. In the other hand there are no absolutes in the hobby some people have multiple reef safe angles.
