He’s not looking good. Here’s some more pictures for research and knowledge. He is trying to swim around but only in brief spells.

He passed tonight before bedtime. Lessons learned although I'm not sure what to take away from this one. A close physical exam showed that his lower jaw just rotted away. Whatever it was, it didn't respond to metroplex or furan-2. Since I didn't have any kanaplex, maybe that is the answer. So tomorrow I'll do a 50% water change and observe the rest for a week. If all goes well, I'll move them to the DT next week.

If it's anything like necrotizing fasciitis, then antibiotics probably wouldn't help -- period. The nature of this type of infection is severe and requires surgical intervention...which isn't really likely for a fish.

I'm sorry that you've had such a negative experience.

Sorry for the loss. I think next time removal with a razor blade and applying neosporin would have also been a string course of action.

NFG is best for nearly any infection. Fish are slow to react to any antibiotic, but NFG does wonders.

As I think about how this panned out, I think lympho became infected and rotted the mouth of the fish.

Sorry for your loss.
