So I found this growing, it does feel spongey. I didn't touch the spikes though lol. It's the pink thing that looks like coralline. Also got my first bristleworm sting a couple minutes ago, and for those wondering it feels like a sweat bee sting haha.

Likely if you have one, you have more somewhere in the tank.
Just on that piece so far. I just set up the tank on the other side of the livingroom and found it whilst bristleworm hunting when all the rocks were taken out.
 
Might also be a Foraminiferan, considering it has "spikes." These are harmless, filter-feeding protists:

Hmm I believe it's this Dysidea sponge, looks more similar.
