ID whats on my tank

Not hydroids...no arms...look like blobs, some are transparent others look to have sand in them.

I have 12 snails in there as well as 2 peppermint shrimp. Just normal flakes, or do I need marine flakes

Was the rock you added "live"? Probably had die off and caused an amonia spike or the last fish you added had a disease and it ran rampant. I don't think it matters about the flakes you just want something to decompose to kickstart the cycle again.

Use marine flakes what u plan on using in your tank. I know it can be frustrating but patience is key in this hobby i should be ok if you follow what i said earlier. And what i ment by water levels being ok is 0 ammonia 0 nitrite and only nitrate remaining. Water changes are for nitrate level control but until your tank cycles dont change the water.

This sounds like like what i had in my tank... its snail eggs... if u leave them alone u will get free clean up crew and thats always a plus! I have literly hundreds of big foot snails in my tank now and they only reproduce if there is enough food "algae" for them in the tank. So no worries there

@cryptics - What everyone is saying makes sence, and yes the rock was live. The seller was nice enough to send me one that had some good red coraline on it. What doesn't make sence is that I never saw a real change in my ammonia and my nitrates and nitrites went down when the introduction of the sand and rock.

@grumpy-crab - that is sorta on the right track, only yours are a lot more regular looking then mine are. Mine are blobs like those, but they are either empty or have sand in the middle of them

Yeah so do these! I took this pic at the LFS today and yes they are in there snail tanks. Also the same thing i had in mine. Their just snail eggs so no worries

i second, third, or fourth, the spike.... been down your road before. Nothing good comes fast in this hobby. Its worth the wait. count your loss as time to research and learn from your mistakes.
