Very unhappy right now.
I’ll have to look and see or try and get some this afternoon/eveningDo you have any clearer photos? If it was sold to you as an acan, chances are it's actually micromussa, as some species of micromussa were formerly acanthastrea.
No, I can’t tell by the pic on my end what exactly that is, but, appears to be receding. It opens up fully and extends all his tentacles ?
Just took thisI’ll have to look and see or try and get some this afternoon/evening
was bought as an acan but idk lolFrom looking at the flesh, it looks like a micromussa (acan). However, I don’t see separations between each polyp that you would see in a micromussa.
Same coral just different pics lolFirst pick looks of micromussa second obviously acan. Two totally different genera.
What the hobby commonly calls acan is actually a species of micromussa. True acans are called echinata by the hobby, although they are not necessarily acanhastrea echinata. There is also an acan species that looks like a lobophyllia.First pick looks of micromussa second obviously acan. Two totally different genera.
Also referred to as favia ?favite not an acan
O.k. and ?What the hobby commonly calls acan is actually a species of micromussa. True acans are called echinata by the hobby, although they are not necessarily acanhastrea echinata. There is also an acan species that looks like a lobophyllia.
This is all so confusing What the hobby commonly calls acan is actually a species of micromussa. True acans are called echinata by the hobby, although they are not necessarily acanhastrea echinata. There is also an acan species that looks like a lobophyllia.

No, it is not a favia. After a reclassification, favia became limited to the Atlantic, it is illegal to collect stony corals. Most indo-pacific favias have been reclassified to dipsastraea, with some being moved to favites and goniastrea. Also referred to as favia ?
that’s what I was originally thinking
My bad thought when you said you bought two you were showing pics of both. Thats kinda crazy cause when our acans "echinata" get ticked they retreat from baseball size to golf ball size while still showing a reasonable amount of flesh not all flat like the pic.Same coral just different pics lol
