Idiot Alert

I set my RODI running to fill a Brute bin. I then forgot about it and went out for the afternoon. What's probaby worse, it was my dear wife that discovered the flood.

I worry I might be too stupid for this hobby.
Dont feel bad. You are not the first person to flood the house, you wont be the last. Call it a learning experience

Learn from your mistakes. I did that early in my saltwater experience.

At some point, everyone who makes their own RO/DI floods their house. It's a matter of when, not if. As others have said, consider it an initiation to the "I-know-how-an-RO/DI-filter-works" club.

I went to clean my skimmer last weekend and must have moved my carbon reactor out flow hose on accident and when I came back into the living room a couple hours later…… you know where this is going. Lol I thought my sump was leaking and called customer service and so on.. then I noticed the hose was sending water behind the sump. My floor is still wet. My wife had to wash towels for a week. Lol So trust me when I say I feel your pain.

Float valves as stated for sure then you can just let it run and not worry about it. But don't feel bad. I was filling a freshwater tank once after doing a water change and decided to do some internet shopping while it was filling. My Gal and I were sitting back in the computer room and our dog kept coming back acting goofy and leaving and repeating. Gal asked me what the dogs problem is. I said she's stupid. Then I walk down the hall and the stupid dog is laying in the dining room staring at the flooded living room watching the water flow down the heat ducts into the basement. Guess who the stupid one is :thinking-face:

Had one to many mishaps in the house, wife came home to find laundry room flooded was told to find a new way a long time ago now my saltwater is prepared in the garage.

Can't tell you how many times I did that until I finally spend 70 or so bucks on an auto shut off....BEST DANG MONEY ever spent! Just do it!!! Trust me...you spend more on killings corals and fish...sad truth.
