So as the title states, if you have a freebie to change/add one thing in your system, be it a lighting overhaul, skimmer, calcium reactor, new ATO setup, what would you do.

In my 29 gallon BioCube, if I could change one thing, it would be adding a sump. I'd really want to add a sump so I could move my skimmer, top off floats, and just more water volume to my tank. It would also clean up the top of the tank which the wife would love, and would make the room a bit quieter too (currently a HOB skimmer).

I did this for my biocub using the smalest icecap sump and a nano overflow. Made things a lot nicer.

As for changes, i just moved up to a 105 amd got almost everything i wanted for it while the wife is visiting her mother in china.

The only problem is now my wife wants to buy a house, and i would hate having to move it .

Wish I had started with a RedSea Reefer tank. and took more time in the plumbing section of things. First tank ready to upgrade to a RSR.
