Im done with ecotech who makes a reliable led?

I'm having problems with EcoTech as well. My lights have a mind of their own. Go on and off at different times. Different ones act independently of the others even though they are programmed the same.

EcoTech was quick to respond but I'm told that nearby WiFi signals are probably causing the problem. The Problem with that is I program them directly connected to the lights! Don't even use WiFi. So how can that be possible?

Add me to the list of people switching from Radions to ReeFi. To the original poster’s point, the Radions have the fan facing the water so any splashing fish or human mistake could allow water to easily enter the light. The ReeFi has a mirrored glass face plate facing the water so splashing isn’t much of an issue.

No, there are several mounting options. I reused my Radion RMS arms with the custom adapter from ReeFi, which also included an option to compensate for the 3.5 degree sag RMS arms typically have. Hmmm, I currently run Radions and T5s. I wonder if those would fit in the center of the fixture like the Radions.

To address the OPs question in regards to the ReeFi, are they water resistant?

I'm not home at the moment to measure, but according to the ReeFi website they are 12.6″L x 8″W x 1.9″H.

See my post #113 in this thread. I posted a video and picture. The light runs underwater. Not advisable, but if it can run underwater I'm confident moist salty air or even a splash will have zero effect on the fixture.

Just want to counter the ECOTECH hate...... Three XR15 within a hood/canopy here, about 8 inches from the water line - Going on 4 years now, no issues. Three Vortechs too, no issues.

The hood is heavily aerated and was designed with the fixtures in mind and the fact that all electronics clearly do not mix with water. Two large fans within the hood roof push air out of the canopy 24/7 to prevent condensation. Im amazed at what some people are spewing about warranty here and from reading the whole thread its like we should all be expecting free replacements when warranty is up. I bought these lights knowing the warranty time limit and because they are what some call a premium cost i clean and care for them regularly, after all they are the heart of my reef.

Im across the pond to most of you and our Ecotech service guys are top notch here. But i will say this. Everyone interprets bad customer service differently. Some will say its bad service because they simply told you they are out of warranty and water damaged, just because you didn't like that FACT reply doesn't mean its bad service and to me thats not bad service at all.

OP, you said you could physically see condensation on your fixtures, i personally would not buy any other type of light until you can address that issue. That is the problem. Even if you bought a waterproof fixture i personally would not be happy with physical water droplets on the fixture all the time.

you are in Canada? where are the Ecotech service people in Canada? I emailed the company directly via their website and was essentially told to f-off and buy a new one, granted it was an old pump.

The fan on the tank side is one of the dumbest ideas I’ve seen. I lost mine to the same thing and they were 15” above the water. Seems like a great idea to suck evaporating salt water into the light to keep it cool. I went with hydras because they are comparable and the fan is on the top away from the water. I’m thinking about applying for an engineering job with echotech so I can show them dumber ways to do things. I’m sure I’ll get paid great and they can just charge more for the light to offset my levitating light idea. Maybe just make it submersible without waterproofing it so you get better par lower in the tank.

I don't know if you can say this about every instance, but I do know one specific instance where a customer confessed to Reef Brite that they had dropped a fixture in the water and Reef Brite replaced it. They replaced a power supply for me, no questions asked.

orphek OR2 Light Bars. My BML's are also IP67 rated along with their drivers, too bad they quit making aquarium lights to keep up with horticulture lighting.

I really liked the BMLs, though my short Refugium light from them did see salt creep into the housing, killing it eventually. Same problem as OP in a sense but mine was in a sump cabinet.

This is the second time I have lost a radion to moisture. Sure it's a good light but ecotech fails to do anything about making their light moisture resistant. I have my lights 8 inches off the water in a canopy and after the first failure I added glass tops. 2 years is still all I get before the moisture renders it useless. Ecotech only solution is to repair for $275 or replace for over $400. It doesn't seem to matter your issue, no matter how many thousands you spent on their products, this is their only solution. Instead of me lining their pockets again I'm considering a switch. Is there any lights that are durable and moisture resistant. So far everything is pointing to kessels. Any information or input will be appreciated.

I feel your pain. Have you considered adding a glass panel just beneath the light to block the moisture from getting to the lights? Or have the lights suspend just over the hood so moisture don't get into the lights? I feel with enclosed space all lights will have issues in the long run. They all use fans to exhaust heat which means air exchange is a necessity.

I would refer back to the OP's original statement of moisture getting in the fixtures and why this is happening. It's a moot point to suggest a different light fixture with this condition still existing with that much humidity happening.

Debating what fixture is better or superior is not going to alleviate the OP's original issue.

Unless there is a "water proof" light fixture in the market (I'm not aware of any) I would like to see more info from the OP's reason for excessive humidity and solutions to correct it. Respectfully.

Exactly how I feel. I don't think any light fixture on the market right now is branded as water proof. It would be helpful if OP can measure and post the humidity level in the hood with a simple digital thermometer?

Humidity in ones house in general would have to be addressed with a dehumidifier.

How I dealt with humidity in a canopy is very similar to any that has a canopy, vent it out. When building my canopy I drilled holes at the top:

Then cut holes at the back to mount two 120 mm case fans that blow air in the canopy, thus pushing the humid air out:

Works well and no issues with my light fixtures.
