Happy belated 40th for the other day.sorry you didnt have anyone to celebrate it with.
Some good advice already in thread about changing aquascape up a bit which will keep you busy doing it and then tweaking it a little after .
Im relatively new to r2r but it such a great community and this thread proves it with the talk thats going on.and you never know maybe someone near you reading this thread and can share interests in each others tanks or go to reef clubs with each other ( maybe even a date ha ha )
Sounds like over the pond there so much many more reef clubs and meets and such than in sunny England but maybe when world not so crazy more people go to the reef clubs and more woman as life slowly getting back to normal but won't go into detail but the covid excuse still getting used to much i believe ( found out today)

Good luck and hope you get the passion and enjoyment back from this beautiful interesting hobby soon ^_^

I do believe they are getting the care they deserve. I check on them every day, I feed them, if something looks off I'll fix it. I would never neglect them, they are my babies (odd to say for fish, but you do grow attached to them in some way)

In your original post you mentioned not changing the water in months until it got nasty and not bothering to pick up fallen corals. That's why I made the comment. The fish aren't the only animals in question.

Think of your audience. The awkwardness is why most of us do fish tanks in the first place. You have to be the aggressor. Fish don’t shoot us down, so no rejection. Well..except clowns. They are real arses

Yea I can see how that got taken the wrong way! Let me expand on that previous post. I am striving for a self sustaining ecosystem. The 75g is there, the 20g got algae growths (cyano inthink) in the past week or so. I’m taking care of that issue now. If corals fell, I let the grow where ever it fell (unless it’s upside down or in a bad spot I will move)

@Isopod80 Here’s the tank in question. Looks better already. Needs more cleaning. It just has 2 pj cardinals that will go in the 75g when they get bigger and 2 clown gobies (I had planned on filling this tank with all colors of clown gobies)

Thank you Peter, I really appreciate the concerns I guess my life is in a rut overall and hit my 40th birthday a few days ago without anyone to celebrate with made me down, but I really don't know if it would contribute to my loss of interest in my tanks?

The tanks aren't work, I did get up and do a water change and I didn't feel like it was work. I was just lazy to do it for so long. oops.

Seems like you in a rut in life and thats also spills over to you tank and other aspects of your life.

If you don’t find interest it in anymore, I would probably look to sell your tank and find another interest! Are there any other interests you have? You could use the money from the tank to spend on your new hobby.

Are there other aspects of the hobby that might grab your interest? I'm pretty new still but I build a mixing station today and that was fun just because of the novelty. Hobbies tend to grab me the most when I have a ton of avenues to learn.

I've always wanted to convert the tank to seahorse tank, then i see the price tag on the horses and I am like.. yea not now. One day I'd love to do a seahorse tank. I am pretty attached to my present fish to rehome them

Have you considered adding some pipefish? They are sygnathids and way easier, and cheaper, than seahorses. I've done the seahorse thing and can tell you I much prefer my pipefish. Plus, you can seed a good copepod population and never need to feed them. I've had my female pipe with all sorts of other fish and she does great. The only thing is when you first put them into the tank. I bought four blue stripes and three of them committed suicide in the first 20 seconds. It was like that scene in Nemo but with flower anemones. Tragic. Once they get their bearings its smooth sailing. They are great swimmers and you can have anything from anemones to LPS. Super fun.

I kinda wish I had people outside the internet to associate with when it comes to the hobby- in a way of a motivator to speak. I've tried joining reef clubs and no one seemed interested in having a female reefing buddy- there's all guys that congregate and hardly and females. I went to almost every event the club held too and I always leave feeling like a third wheel even after trying to talk to them.

Even now just chatting with you guys just for a few minutes helped, Different thoughts and ideas, it gets me thinking. But forums aren't exactly the same, yannow?
