So I just got an innovative marine 40gal cube and the system is just really loud. I'm pretty sure the noise is the water falling from the second chamber into the middle chamber down to the pump. It's not a problem when the middle chamber is filled but within a day the middle chamber water level goes down and it starts to get loud. I don't know how to fix this. Am I just going to have to deal with this?

Get an auto top off unit. I have my float valve placed in the middle chamber so that I don't here much of the water. The auto top off will essentially put evaporated water back in your tank via a float sensor and water pump.

invest on an auto top off system. Your tank inhabitants will love you for it. I got one for my IM 30L and its worth every penny.

Does this mean I'll need a big bucket full of saltwater somewhere in my room?

the water should only be a inch or less in the middle chamber from the top where the water goes from the 2 nd chamber

Not saltwater, RO/DI water, when the water evaporates , you still have the salinity. I do not currently have an auto top off and do it manually with the RO/DI water I add approx. 1/2 gal. Every 2 days, I have the jbj 30 gal. Aio. If my back chambers get to low it gets noisy and my skimmer makes a slurping noise.

Okay so this happening is completely normal? Because the water level in the middle chamber goes way down at a crazy rate, I'm actually not sure where all of it is going, it seems too fast to be evaporation but I could be wrong.

If you have an open to (without glass) the your evaporation is going to be a lot more than if you had a glass top. If you don't see water on the floor or wetness around your tank then it is evaporation.
+1 on the auto top off.

Well it's normal for mine, lol and mine is evaporation. Unless you have a leak,o_O I would think that's what is going on. I also notice if mine gets to low I start getting some micro bubbles.

This was my first issue when I bought IM40.
The middle chamber where the pump recides pumps out the water to tank and that's why it gets low fast.
Just fill up the middle chamber with water and it will all level out.

Do you use saltwater or RODI?

I have a IM40 and it's silent.. I changed the pump to a hagen 70..and I have a protein skimmer on chamber 2 on one side and a media chamber in chamber 2 on other side... for your issue add a foam block and it will dampen the noise.. a block from a hang on filter would be easy to get and a cheap fix.

What do you have in the media chamber?

What do you have in the media chamber?
IM reactor... in each 1st chambers I have in tank racks - one is refugium the other is media. The Reactor holds a phos resin....was using something else and tank was ok phos media ..works better in my tank.

Like others have said you need an auto top off unit. This will require a container of water to be in your stand generally.

Above is my water container. It's a dog food container. Holds 5 gallons of water and lasts about a week.

Center chamber should be about 1 to 2 inches lower.
I use a Tunze ATO. It comes with everything you need to get it running.
Tunze USA 3152.000 Automatic Top off Nano Osmolator for Aquariums Under 55-Gallon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AR1A7ZU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_B9OKxbGWCHY66

This one would work for your aquarium

Saltwater

Do not top off with saltwater. Top of with RO/DI. When water evaporates from our tanks, only the water evaporates, the salt remains. If you top off with saltwater, the overall salinity will increase everytime you add more saltwater as top off and you will end up killing your tank inhabitants.
