I'm looking to upgrade my skimmer. I am still planing on upgrading to larger tank so I would like to get a skimmer with that in mind. Does any body have a skimmer they would like to part with?
I would prefer something rated for around 120g, maybe a cone with a bubble plate.

I have also been looking at this...
180 Gallon Fresh Saltwater Fish Tank Protein Skimmer SCA 302 Needle Impeller | eBay

Any comments or concerns with this skimmer?

Great skimmer for the price but wouldn't use it for anything more than 90 with a light - moderate bio load.

You can usually find a used Reef Octopus or SWC skimmers for around the $150 price range. Just keep an eye out. SWC 160 Cone Skimmer is an amazing skimmer from what I've heard and I personally use a SRO XP1000SSS and its the best skimmer I have ever bought.

A skimmer is mostly about the pump. I dont know anything about that pump on the skimmer posted but I have heard some positive reviews on the skimmer.

How much you looking to spend? I have nice Bubble King Deluxe 200 for sale right now.

they use the same pump as the SWC skimmers, Atmans. not sure of the actual model number tho. I own the SCA-302 and ran it on my 90 for awhile. Did great, will be using it in my upcoming frag tank.

Just and FYI one of the best skimmers I have seen was a 5 gallon bucket with a collection cup put on top and a bubble blaster attached near the base.

Bubble Blasters do work, the HY-1000 on my XP1000SSS produces the best foam compared to any pump I have used before.

I just pulled the trigger on the SCA-302. The seller replied and confirmed the pump is an Atman PH2000.

Im thinking about getting one soon myself. Right now I have about 40G total in my system (33L w/20L sump) My first thoughts were to simply get the 301 and save $50 but the extra cost would mean savings in the long run when I decide to upgrade again to a bigger tank. I just wish I knew aout these sooner because it seems the prices keep going up.

yeah, when i purchased mine i got it for $100 shipped for the SCA-302, I was surprised to see the price at $150. Skimmer is great though.

I went to scaquariums.com and its $129.97 +shipping, so $147.11 total going to get it in a few weeks.
