I'm just out of words...frustration...pain...anger...I don't know what to do or react.

I'm new in this hobby and I LOVE IT! Got a small tank, did everything by the book, almost neglected my family just to make sure my tank is fine and healthy and still got 2 fish and 2 corals dead 2 weeks ago. I went through all tests possible, documented everything, went back over and over again to see what I did wrong. All my answers ended with accidental POISONING . Thought I learned my lesson and would change things from now on. The last 8 water changes (including before the death of my fish and corals) were made with RODI water from my LFS. Last week I decided is time to get a RODI system and professional TDS tester so I cut the costs in the long run. Ran the system today for the first time and ran the tester too. I was IN SHOCK when I tested the water from the LFS (just out of curiosity).....2130TDS. My water (in my apartment) runs at 150TDS and after the RODI system it's (of course) 0 TDS.
So the last 8 WC I did was with 2130 TDS. Why in the world would you give that to people???? Why?? How?? I'm just shocked...I don't know what to do or feel about this...so I just wanted to share with you all. YES, there are people out there who just care about money and nothing more.

I'm so sad and disappointed...

2150tds seems a bit over the top... Possible user error? That being said Ive bought rodi from my lfs only one time when my filter was having issues. It tested worse than my tap water so I dumped it down the drain!

I have no idea where they got that water from but it's beyond my imagination. The tester is calibrated and I tested different waters around the house including the purified RODI coming right out of the hose in this very moment. This is the tester ( for reference):

HM Digital DM-1 in-Line Dual TDS Monitor

20 is already high. . and holy cow- thats super high. This is what many LFS have come too especially since COVID. And to hold them responsible is just not going to happen.
I suggest before any livestock, get yourself a decent 4 stage RODI unit which is very easy to connect, install and use.

At that level, it sounds like salt water.. not RODI.

That's exactly what I did. Got a 4 stage RODI and a tester. That's how I got to test their water.... :(

I guess I'm lucky I have 2 reputable lfs's near me. Ive tested there freshwater from time to time maybe 3 times a year and have always received stellar results.

Sucks. I have seen numerous posts about people losing their tanks to LFS water. Often the water is just fine then one time they screw up and something rusts in their mixing vat or something gets in it and its over. Not all LFS employees are as careful as we are with our own tanks.

I think this is only possible if LFS gave you the waste water not the rodi. I would certainly notify them so they know something up. As per if you will get any refund I doubt it.

Now I'm curious what my wastewater TDS is. They either gave you reject water or your meter is broken.

Yes, that's what my wife thinks, that they gave me some waste water although it didn't smell anything like bad. I think it's useless to notify them. Their attitude was always ****tty towards the customers. They either don't care or just to hungry for money. As for the refund I'm not even going to bother for 20 bucks. My only problem is the fact that they're messing up with people's fish tanks.

The meter is fine. Came calibrated and I tested different waters. It shows the right values.

I guarantee the high tds is residual salt water in the reservoir, one drop in a few gallons could read sky high like that

Wow, sounds like toilet water is cleaner than this. Can you get your money back?
