in the market for new lights

the fixture only comes in a 72 inch... my canopy is 73 inches, would this be a bad idea sticking this light in there? no room for air flow

Id install a fan or two OR open holes for internal fans of light. My canopy is wide open on top.

i want to go for it and give the spectra a try but im nervous ill need a chiller... and if i do ill be screwed because theres no room in my living room to put it

I would avoid MH in a canopy because of heat.

My tank is in my office. Used to have power compact fluorescent under a canopy. Chiller broke over a weekend and heat from lights cooked all my corals. Office AC is set to 78 degrees on weekends, cooler during the week.

Now I run 5 Kessil a360we over a 300 gallon tank 8'x32"x24" deep. PAR is only about 200 8" down so I'll be adding another kessil and 2 of the current usa marine pro (ups says I'll have them Monday).

No canopy and all power supplies located in a "fish room"/closet outside my office.

Chiller still runs 1-3 Times per day, depending on the weather, for about an hour and a half each time.

leaning towards the spectra isnt going to work with my set up. if i did buy it and did need a chiller id have to sell the lights. the tank is in my living room with no room for a chiller nor would i really want some ugly chiller sitting in my living room

I would seriously look at the sbreeflights. They have a new ultra version which is like a slim. But both work very well. @saltyfilmfolks and I run them. Fish of hex did a video on par of the lights and they turned out to be better than I thought.

Not all leds are the same. Some grow coral better than others. I started off with t12 then went to sb and got better growth, better cookies, and overall better tank. Nutrients can also play a role on growth. I ran 12 alk when my trates were about 50. Had insane growth.... then when my nutrients went down to 2 I went down to 9 alk.
