Innovative Marine warranty

Well IM customer service is awesome so far! They got back to me right away. They gave two options
1. Instructions how to fix it and 300 dollar credit
2. Replace the tank after I scratch void on the front and send a video of it with the serial#
I vote #2. When you're done transferring, I'll come pick up the old tank.

That is awesome! Use that credit for an upgrade!

I believe the weak link on ext's, I have a 170, is where the acrylic comes into contact with the back glass and overflow. I looked at mine, its still in the crate, and there is a gap between the overflow and black acrylic sheet. I ran a bead of black silicone along the entire edge to fill in the gap. Water will now flow evenly across the weir and not into the gap.
My thoughts are the water from the tank flows into the gap causing failure over time.
I would advise anyone with an ext to check the area before filling the tank. Its an easy fix and hopefully IM will address it in the future.

It's almost impossible to see anything with the windex blue. Can you change lights to white?

He’s already got a warranty replacement on the way. Probably already has it, actually.

I gotta say those IM systems look real nice on their site, too bad they are California, they could be less expensive in a lower cost state for sure.

They are still manufactured in China, so what's your point. Waterbox and Red Sea are just as expensive if not more so and they aren't CA based... :thinking-face:

Waterbox is based in FL and Red Sea is Texas...

taxes for starters, don't know about waterbox or red sea systems, just lamenting that the costs could be lower by not having to be in one of the most expensive places to operate a business. What they make and do does not require operating in California, that then becomes a choice.

End game is that if you don't like the price, don't buy it. Simple economics. Someone always has to turn a thread to some weird bent.

They probably do get taxed out the wazoo, but in the end they are still a great value for us hobbyists. And I too had a good customer service experience with them, like the OP. I bought a Nuvo 200 and hired some movers to help get it in the house and they damaged it. IM didn't replace the tank (and they shouldn't--it wasn't their fault) but responded to my email within minutes and allowed us to purchase a replacement tank at a discount without buying another stand. Brian H is great to deal with.

That's who I dealt with, he's awesome!

Had this same issue with my 100 EXT. Got a replacement and now 3 months into the replacement tank, same issue.

I’ve contacted IM again, but do not expect they’ll be willing to replace tank again. Nor would I want another one as the design is obviously flawed and needs to be addressed.
