So I’ve been trying easy sps corals for a while now and I just can’t figure out what’s going on little background on tank it’s total water volume is around 80 gallon been running since May 2019 My parameters seem really good and been getting really good coraline growth in the last month or so started with dry rock. Any ideas why my sps isn’t doing well? Seems to be bleaching Here are parameters running two AI prime hd on tank also do a weekly water change of about 7% use tropic marin pro-reef salt have good random flow in tank two mp40s and one mp10 set on random schedule with apex.

salinity: 1.025 Milwaukee tester
Ph: 8.06-8.12 apex
Alk: 7.8-8.0 stays very consistent dose kalkwasser (Hanna)
Temp: 78-79 apex
Phosphates: 0.03-0.06 Hanna

I do have two large pocillopora corals and those are the only sps I’ve ever had not die on me.

Your corals are starving from not enough light most likely. I doubt 2 primes is enough light for that size tank. I have a single prime 16 maxed out on a 7 gallon cube frag tank and it only provides 300 par, even with whites at 50

I also have 2-26 hds at 85% on a 29 gallon biocube and 2-52hds on my 50 gallon display.
Have you checked your par?

I have not checked my par I do have a sunpower I thought about throwing on there

That’s tissue necrosis btw, not bleaching. Your po4 is too low imo. Sps frags do better at 0.08-0.12.

Would a two bulb t5 setup work over this tank? With the ai primes?
I’m no T5 expert but I doubt it. A par meter would be the best way to find out. If your plan is to start keeping acros the best approach would be the aquatic life 4 bulb hybrid and at least 2 more primes or a single 26 hd in the middle.

Okay I’m just gonna put my 48 inch 6 bulb original powermoduale on the tank

That’s an even good’r idea
Those corals might not recover even if you put them one of WWC tanks. I hope I’m wrong, but they look they’re knocking on deaths door

What is your nitrate level? Zero or near-zero is too low. I have many acros and keep my nitrate around 10-20 ppm.
I agree with this as well as that’s the range I keep mine but that doesn’t matter if they are in less than 100 par, like I would bet they are.

You don't have to sweat too much light from T5s. 6, 8 or 10, you can just drop them on and corals do fine.

Remember that building block availability is more important that residual levels on a test kit. .03 P is fine. Nitrate does not matter if you are feeding a lot - corals would rather get their nitrogen from ammonia/ammonium rather than no3, so do not sweat no3 unless you are starving your fish or not feeding well.

Read this dry-rock article and see if any of this seems familiar:

I feel like I feed more than enough fish are fat and healthy

You have an ATI PowerModule and you were rocking two AI Primes instead? Come on, man!

Edit: I should be the last person to make accusations. I had a Bubble King skimmer in my garage and have been running a skimmer-less tank.
