Insane 6" Pink Maxima Clam -$1,200

I got the email about this clam I didn't even have to see who posted it. I knew exactly who was selling it I saw it the day after he got it. It is true to that color. Worth every penny now if it just wasn't a whole pay check for me I would snag it.

I am in Dayton. The picture was taken with my iPhone. I realize this is a big purchase and will pull out my DSLr this week to get a accurate picture. For now here is another with my phone. I backed it up so you could see the other corals around it to see they are normal color.

Hey lazylivin I would love to come by and check out your collection I live in Middletown OH

I have never seen egg crate or clam shells look like what I see in your photo. Please post a photo with the color balance corrected and not saturated.
Same here. Would also like to see a picture without all the blue lights. Would like to see what it would look like in my tank with more color balance.

I have seen this clam in person and it IS that dang pretty!!! The Spongodes and clam are both spot on in the pictures.
In the second pic right above the 2 blue clams there is a blue stick. The frag plug color looks odd not unless he uses odd colored plugs. Looks like the clams are also sitting on the odd colored plugs. Will be waiting to see a better photo.

Wish i had a paycheck that big period. ..i need new career lol

Pink clam. This thread can very easily go in another direction. It is very unique
Yes in a lot of forums this thread would of ended up a train wreck
Looks like black egg crate with coralline algae covering it....hence the "off" color that pops up in your mind initially.
I thought that was coralline right out of the gate also.

Oh and that is a Purdy clam to be sure. GLWTS

Do you mean the whitish greyish plugs that are used by almost every reefer in the world? I see them also. They appear very normal to me.

They look like they have some blue/purple to them. Most of the plugs I have seen are more white. Where do you get plugs this color?
Also, the clams that I have seen come in usually don't have all that coralline on them. Have never seen a solid coralline covered clam shell.
Check out this clam thread and you will see what I mean.
Link won't work, but the thread is on here and titled "Lets see those clam pic's! Clams that you have, had, or even photographed."

Will be interesting to see if a better color balanced photo is posted. I will just wait for that.

You are over-analyzing the photo. The plugs look completely normal. If you haven't seen the second photo he said he used his iPhone. An iPhone doesn't take the best pictures under LEDs, which if you look you see he's using LEDs. Where is the coralline on the shell? I see none. All three clam shells look the same. It again looks completely normal.

Beautiful clam! GLWS!

Just let the guy sell his clam, if you're not interested don't post a comment. R2R is a respectful, family friendly forum. Glws and beautiful clam!
Pretty much.

Folks, if you're not interested or don't like what you see, move on please.

What are you even talking about, since when does asking pertinent questions regarding a $1200 coral become offensive or disrespectful?! The seller said he was going to use a real camera and post new pics and he didn't, had he done that then nobody can't question the clams true colors. I was interested and was waiting but still nothing, I have yet to see anyone post anything that's offensive. Fauna Marin just recently posted a 32g cube with some fantastic looking corals in it, yet several members accused them of gluing fresh colonies in place as oppose to growing out frags. Fauna Marin posted new pics of this tank when they started it with frags, done deal. The moderators didn't have a problem with that, yet I post a panda eating popcorn waiting on the new pics and that gets deleted, go figure.

Fauna marin wasnt selling anything. Questions are supposed to be directed PM regarding any sale posts. I guess very few members read the rules they agree to when becoming a member.

Wow great clam.

If he saturated the photo wouldn't the lights in the reflection be changed? It looks like a phone pic under LEDS. which aren't the best but you get what you get.

Are you kidding me, why do you think Fauna Marin is posting an incredible looking tank that uses Fauna Marin products, of course they're selling something, THEIR PRODUCTS!!! Questions should be posted so that they're not duplicated a hundred times, everyone always asks for more pictures, angles, prices, ect., and if the OP doesn't post answers to pm questions then he'll get the same thing over and over again. That's frustrating when sellers do not post all pertinent info and that leaves the potential buyer in limbo until such, and possibly missing out on the item.

Fauna marin wasnt posting a sale thread. Im just answering your question. I didnt make the rules nor am i a mod.

Fauna Marin doesn't have to start a sale thread to sell, advertising is what brings them sales, ie the 32g cube. If anyone shows their reef and it's amazing, the first thing everybody wants to know is what are they using (lights, skimmer, additives, ect), and there's no better advertisement than results. Asking for additional pics is standard issue on expensive amazing specimens, so if you're going to chime in whenever a question is asked in a sale thread, you're going to be busier than you want to be, if mods have an issue with those type of questions then I'm sure they'll deal with it accordingly.

Look man i was just trying to answer YOUR question, not "chiming in". I cant help you dont understand rules or cant tell the difference between VENDOR paid advertising or a sale thread. Dont take it out on me. But you are right, its such a travesty!!
