Hmmmmmm seems at some point most do have a problem and those that switch see immediate results for the positive soon after

The last post I linked is the most troubling showing toxic levels of freshly mixed salt guess what io not to good

yes, I am right, as are the true thousands who use it with great success, including giant aquariums and my tank.

Nothing you posted shows it is the cause of general problems.

Are other salt mixes possibly better in some way that impacts tank creatures? It’s possible. But there’s no convincing evidence.

Ah, yes, Ron’s long ago debunked tirade against IO.

What really was a disservice to the reef community was the folks who switched to his recommended salt mix and lost tank creatures. you should google crystal seas and report back.

Wasn't going to bring that up, and let him have his one triumph. Even though that article was debunked many years ago.

I started using IO in 72 and RC in I believe the 80’s or 90’s, , not sure when.
I have never had a issue with either and still use both. Most people I know still use them without issue.,
I have tried other salts over the years and have found I rather use a proven salt and save money .

Pls no one use reef crystal so the price stays low and I can continue to use it

Over last 17 yrs in the hobby, I have used tropic marine, fritz RPM, Red Sea, instant ocean reef crystal, aquaforest and esv. Fritz was an absolute no no. Esv was too much work and prone to human error.

Red Sea, tropic marine and reef crystal all have good results in the tank (reef crystal - not in the mixing bucket).
Between these three, I buy whatever is cheapest, which in last one yr has been reef crystal.

Ive seem people use a filter sock and they filter the salt water through it as their mixing it by pumping it back and forth between two brute trash cans or containers depending on size of tank and amount of salt water you need to mix up but they have a tube and put a filter sock at the end to catch and collect anything that might be in the salt or water and it seems to work really well for that .

It most definitely is. Aquariums alone prob use more than hobbiests
